Famous around the world as the birthplace of the playwright William Shakespeare, this delightful and vibrant riverside town is the setting for our morning walk exploring the life and times of William, his family, friends, and associates. From the birthplace, we take a gentle stroll beside the river and through the streets that were familiar to William Shakespeare. Along the way we see where he went to school, the site of the house that he retired to on his return from London - and his final resting place in the Parish Church.
Meet at the agreed Stratford upon Avon town centre location. Walk to and visit Shakespeare's Birthplace We cross the ancient footbridge that he would have known on his journeys to and from London. Stop at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre to hear how the annual Shakespeare Festival began. Visit the Parish Church to see the family graves. Walk to Dr. John Halls's house, the home of William's eldest daughter. Stop at King Edward's school. Continue to New Place and stop at the site of William's last home. Exploring the side streets we can make time for refreshments during or after the tour, which ends at agreed on Stratford upon Avon town centre location.
