Hello my name is Charlie and have been a historical and local tour guide for over a year. I have a huge passion for the local history of Oban and Scotland. I am a retired senior law enforcement professional and can provide an unique insight into my tours. I am based in Oban Argyll which is a beautiful seaside town in the western highlands of Scotland. I offer tours in and around Oban, also to Mull, Iona, Glencoe, the Glenfinan Bridge (Harry Potter bridge) and bespoke guided transfers to and from Oban to anywhere in Scotland. My tours are unique and tailored to individual needs. Mostly guests want to see castles and hear about the history surrounding them. Occasionally we get requests from customers who wish to investigate there family tree in the field and this is a service I equally enjoy. Overview of your Oban tour
This tour starts from your Oban Hotel and takes you on a scenic drive to Glenfinnan Viaduct where you will watch the Jacobite Steam Train cross the viaduct. You will then visit the Glenfinnan Monument and learn about the history of the Jacobite Rising. From there, you will drive to the viewpoint for Ben Nevis and enjoy the stunning views of the highest mountain in the UK. Afterward, you will visit the Glencoe Heritage Centre and enjoy lunch at the café before exploring the museum and learning about the history of the area. The tour then takes you to Castle Stalker for a photo opportunity before heading to the Appin Murder sites where you will learn about the infamous events that took place there. Finally, you will return to your Oban Hotel in the evening.
