Hello, I'm Ewan and I'd love to be your local guide when you visit Pembrokeshire and West Wales. I was raised in a small village called Eglwyswrw and I'm a native Welsh speaker. I've been lucky enough to guide visitors around Pembrokeshire and West Wales full time for the last 5 years. I live near the seaside town of Newport, which is only a 15 minute drive from the port of Fishguard. I was previously a Ranger for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, so I have a real passion for the area and I'd love to share this with you. I'm often out on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, or up in the Preseli Hills exploring new routes. My tours provide a chance to see the major attractions sites in Pembrokeshire but I'll also make sure you get a "locals" feel too. Don't be surprised if I stop and talk to people in Welsh on our journey and I'll be sure to take you away from the large crowds so you get a real Welsh perspective of the area. On this tour we visit some of the oldest sites in Wales if not the UK. We will start the tour by visiting St Davids (the smallest city in the UK) and a tour of the amazing 12th Century Cathedral. You will Learn about St David, the patront Saint of Wales. A coastal drive then takes us to visit Strumble Head Lighthouse and to see the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast and sea. Pentre Ifan Buriel Chamber is over 5, 000 years old and is one of the most famous standing stone sites. The Parish of Nevern, St Brynach's 13th Century Church is our next stop. The church is named after Saint Brynach the founder of this church, who was a disciple of St Davids. Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort is the next stop, where you will see how the Celtic Tribes lived some 2, 500 years ago. Go inside these large roundhouses and learn how people survived, hunted and lived without Wifi! Listen to me speaking Welsh to the locals and I'll make sure that you finish the tour having learnt a few words and wanting to come back and visit again!
Ewan deserves more than 5 stars for a superb tour in Fishguard. 12 of us were picked up from the dock and treated to a day of beautiful landscapes and history. I left the itinerary up to him and it couldn’t have been better- including Carreg Samson- covered standing stones- in a farmers pasture. Thank you Ewan for a wonderful day in Wales.
Our Fishguard shore excursion could not have been better! Four of us were led through the beautiful areas of Wales as if we were the only visitors there. We would happily recommend Ewan and Laura to all.
Our tour with Ewan was quite simply outstanding. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm are unmatched. If you are in the area and don't take advantage of the chance to spend a day with him, you have missed a very important opportunity.
The Tour was superb! When we met Ewan and Laura in Newport, they had a proposed plan for the day , taking into account the time available and the weather. We were able to see the main cultural sites in which we had expressed interest and Ewan had noted the special interests we had indicated in advance. The van was very comfortable , the driver very capable and Ewan and Laura shared interesting commentaries on many different levels! A most enjoyable and informative day!! We highly recommend this tour!!
We absolutely loved our full day tour of Pembrokeshire, Wales with Ewan and driver Laura. We had a wonderful tour of the 5000+ year old standing stones of Pentre Ifan, the Iron Age village of Castle Henylls, the beautiful Welsh country side and seacoast, the knitting factory and St. David's Cathedral. They were delightful and very informative. This full day flew by and we were sad when we had to say goodby to them.
