Anthropology is the study of humans and the way they live. She was taught Lanna cooking by her Mom when she was young. This tour has been the absolute highlight of our time in Thailand. Chef Lyn is an expert cook, patient teacher and all around exceptional human being. If you have the opportunity to spend the day with her jump on it, we loved our time cooking, and learning about the local Lanna and Thai culture. And the food was delicious!
Our private tour with Lyn was nothing but wonderful. Lyn is a very knowledgable, friendly and warm person. She first took us to the local market to buy ingredients, offering lots of anecdotes and information, clearly in her element. We then drove to her beautiful property and spent the next few hours cooking incredible dishes - led step by step by her wise guidance. Everything tasted amazing, and the setting was perfect and relaxing, with plenty of time to get to know her, and about Thailand, a bit more - something we really appreciated to make our trip complete. Highly recommended while you are in Chiang Mai!
We would give this 10 stars if we could. Chef Lyn not only taught us so much about Lanna cooking, history and culture, but is the nicest and sweetest person you could ever meet. We had the most incredible experience and would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in cooking in the Chiang Mai area.
From start to finish a great day w/Lyn. Market visit for ingredients was enlightening - she explained market aspects and we tried items as we walked. Her cooking studio is expansive w/gas and traditional cooking options. Her grounds feature a large garden, which provides many ingredients. She clearly explains background, preparation and cooking methods, allowing you to confidentially complete each item. End result was excellent and conversation just as pleasing. We would recommend the class to anyone visiting this area.
My hubby had a blast cooking with Chef Lyn. The market tour to shop for the ingredients we'll be using to cook meals was fantastic! Seeing all the fresh items and her explanations while we visited the stalls was very helpful. Of course the best part was then using the ingredients to prep and cook some meals. She very thoroughly explained each step. I would highly recommend without a hesitation this Cooking Class.
Panphailin Puntira (Lyn) is the guide you want ! Lyn so exceeded our expectations in every way. We had such a wonderful and memorable experience from our visit to the local market to our experience cooking the ingredients that Lyn helped us to carefully pick and prepare. I've not enjoyed a travel experience so very much. My wife is a Chef by trade and I so enjoyed observing the joy and excitement that she experienced while cooking with Lyn. - Pick up by Chef Lyn, then she will take you to visit the local market and continue to her house by private car or van or local truck. - Visiting the local village and organic farm. - Cooking Northern Thai Lanna food together, just like family, talking & sharing experiences with the host family. The food will be Northern Thai food or Lanna food in the Lanna cuisine, cooked with charcoal stove and clay pot. - Having a meal together as locals do. The place is in the Countryside, surround by rice fields, fruit orchards and organic farm that will get you in touch with the real locals and you will learn something new. See how locals live, share their culture and eat together with them. There are 4 dishes to cook including dessert. For example: Khaow Soi (Chiang Mai Noodles) Kaeng Hung Lay (Chiang Mai Curry) Abb Moo (Minced pork wrap in banana leaves) Chiang Mai sausage Banana Flower spicy salad Laab Kwai (Water buffalo spicy salad) The program is organized for Lunch time (08. 30 am. -03. 30 pm. )
