My name is Clare. I am a private tour guide offering private tours in and around Montreux, the pearl of the Swiss Riviera, for over 20 years. There is so much history and culture in Switzerland to learn about, numerous places to visit, many fun activities to enjoy and delicious local specialities to taste. I'm very fortunate to live in Switzerland - the most beautiful country in the world with fabulous wines, cheeses and chocolate amongst other wonderful produce. The stunning views of the lakes and mountains will literally take your breath away! I grew up in England and moved here to Switzerland in 1984 to continue my career in skiing. I started tour guiding for a travel company in Montreux in 1987 and today, not only teach skiing in the winter, being a fully qualified Swiss Ski Instructor with Brevet Federal, but am an experienced tour guide, licensed member of ASGT, the Swiss Association of Tour Guides, guiding mainly private tours from April to December. I also give Swiss wine tastings and teach French and English during the year. In my spare time I enjoy most sports, particularly skiing, snow-boarding, mountain-biking, tennis, wake-boarding, wind-surfing, trampolining as well as cooking, travelling and reading. I adore meeting people and sharing my local knowledge and love of Switzerland with them in an interesting and informative way - it's always a pleasure to show and explain our country to visitors, and I want all of of my guests to have a fabulous time in Montreux and to share their unforgettable holiday memories with their friends and family on their return home. Apart from the tours I already offer, I will be more than happy to personalise your tour depending on your interests and desires, so please do not hesitate to ask me for your tailor-made tour! Maybe you would like to visit Chamonix, Zermatt, Interlaken or Bern during your stay? Travel along the north shore of the lake on a private tour to visit the Roman town of Lausanne, the capital of the Vaud county and home to the International Olympic Committee with its beautiful gothic cathedral, pedestrian old town, shopping streets and port of Ouchy. After our walking tour of Lausanne, we will continue along to the end of the lake to discover the cosmopolitan town of Geneva, full of history and a paradise for shoppers, as well as headquarters to over 200 international organisations including the United Nations, Red Cross and World Health Organisation. Our walking tour will take us from the renowned water fountain, via the luxury shopping area up to the Cathedral in the old town and the Reformation wall in the Bastion Park. Visiting the famous Patek Philippe watch museum or the Red Cross are optional possibilities, entrance fees are not included. Lunch can be arranged according to your wishes, (not included).
We will leave from your hotel and take the train/bus or private vehicle first to visit the beautiful Roman city of Lausanne with its historical gothic cathedral and port of Ouchy, before continuing to Geneva, our cultural and international city with over 200 world headquarters and organisations. We will do walking tours in both cities, stop for lunch in Geneva and return to Montreux by train or car. The journey to Lausanne where we will make our first stop takes about 30 minutes and we will spend about 1 hour there before continuing on about 50 minutes to Geneva. The Geneva city tour takes about 1 hour so we will have time to explore the city/shops and enjoy lunch before returning to Montreux.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
You will have the choice of taking public trains and busses, (price will depend on first or second class tickets), rent your own vehicule or be driven by me in my private car (Toyota Rav 4 x 4) at cost of 1.- per km with a signed liabilty waiver.
