I am a private tour guide based in Basel, Switzerland, with 6 years of guiding experience in Basel, the surrounding three-country region, and the Swiss Alps. My tours combine local history, culture, architecture, food, Jewish heritage and Basel’s unique position at the meeting point of Switzerland, France and Germany. I guide city walks, culinary tours, Jewish heritage tours, family-friendly experiences and tailor-made day trips to the Black Forest, Alsace and the mountains. My background is a little unusual: I am Israeli-German, living in Switzerland with my young family, and I originally studied Environmental Sciences. That gives me a broad perspective — from history and identity to landscapes, nature and the way people live in this region today. What I love most about private guiding is the chance to create personal, meaningful experiences. I enjoy taking guests beyond the obvious sights and introducing them to places with real local character — small producers, family-run businesses, beautiful landscapes, quiet corners and stories that are not always found in guidebooks. I work with adults, children, families, couples, cruise travelers and private luxury clients. Whether we are exploring Basel’s Old Town, tasting local specialties, discovering Jewish history, or hiking in the Alps, I adapt the tour to the guests in front of me and aim to make the day relaxed, authentic and memorable.

On this walking tour, we'll explore Basel's most iconic landmarks, including the Cathedral, the stunning Town Hall, the farmers' market, and the Tinguely Fountain. We'll start the tour by walking along the "Swiss Riviera", a gorgeous promenade alongside the Rhine River, before crossing it the traditional way, by taking one of Basel's old ferries, or, as locals call them, "water taxis". We'll then weave through the city's old streets, combining the old and new, from times before the Roman Empire all the way to modern trends, architecture, and events. We'll explore Switzerland's unique democratic system, making it perhaps the only direct democracy in the world, and see what makes Basel so unusual within the Swiss landscape. The city without mountains and lakes, but still proudly Swiss. Come along if you want to get Basel up close and understand its past and present.
The tour lasts for 2,5-3 hours and includes the following: - River crossing with the ferry - A visit to the Cathedral - A visit to the Town Hall - A visit to the farmers' market - The Tinguely Fountain
