Overview of your Basel tour

Basel, located at the intersection of 3 countries, is Switzerland’s third largest city and only port. It is a place where cultures meet and coexist! For years I have been exploring this city and invite you to join me on this tour I have created through the heart of Basel. I’ll be sure to show you both the “must see” sights and the neighborhoods. We’ll travel from the pristine city hall, through the Spalenberg, to the Barefoot Square. At the edge of old town we’ll take a look at the Concert Hall and Tinguely Fountain. We’ll walk through alleys and the main streets on our way to the Basel Minster. As we move you'll see a mix of the medieval and modern in the form of art, architecture and local culture. I’ll share the city’s stories and history. And tell you about the people who once walked the city streets. By the time we are finished you will know Basel and Switzerland in a new way.

Cynthia was a wonderful guide. From the very beginning, she was incredibly flexible and thoughtfully adapted the tour to our interests, energy level, and walking limitations. Having someone who could seamlessly accommodate special mobility needs without making it feel like an inconvenience made all the difference. She has the perfect personality for a guide: engaging, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with. She struck exactly the right balance of conversation, interesting and informative without ever being overwhelming. Her knowledge of Swiss history, culture, architecture, and local food was exceptional, and as a history teacher, she brought everything to life with fascinating stories and context. Her English is flawless, which made communication effortless. I would enthusiastically recommend Cynthia to travelers of any age, but especially to anyone who has mobility concerns or needs a guide who is willing to personalize the experience. She made us feel completely at ease while ensuring we experienced the very best of Basel. I would take another tour with Cynthia in a heartbeat. She was one of the highlights of our time in Basel.

We had a wonderful time with Cynthia. She helped us easily navigate the city and provided pointers to use later. Must say the restaurant recommendation was terrific. On the tour she pointed out points of interest and took our wishes into account in spending time at various sites. We finished with a great understanding of the city and its markets. After all we started this trip to enjoy the Christmas markets. Would recommend Cynthia for a friendly low key tour with hidden highlights along the way.

We loved being with Cynthia, especially since she is U.S. born and, therefore, of course, her English was perfect. 🤣🤣. Great tour of all the “high points” of Basel, which included some of the many chocolate shops as well as we specifically asked to have them pointed out. She told us about much of the interesting history and beautiful architecture and art. As part of our “walking” tour with Cynthia, she also took us on a quick hop on/hop off tram so we could experience how the locals get around. When our tour was done, we asked for a lunch suggestion and she left us at a little cafe she frequents, which was perfect. Definitely recommend hiring Cynthia.

Cynthia was a FANTASTIC guide! Her knowledge of Basel, the other cities of Switzerland, and its history is very good. Her walk involved areas that are not as populated by tourists and have great views of the city. She was also very helpful in booking us tickets, teaching us how to get around town and the country, and giving recommendations for places to shop. Thank you so much Cynthia for your warmth and for giving us such a wonderful morning tour. We will definitely be back to try your tours of Zurich, Bern, and other areas. Much love from the Philippines!
