My name is May Jony, I was born in the heart of the peruvian Amazon, a small river called NAPO, which is born in ECUADOR country and flows into the AMAZON river in Peru. I am the oldest of 6 brothers and 4 sisters and I left my village when I was 12 years old after finishing my primary and go to the high school in IQUITOS city but my family still live in my hometown which I am trying to help a little while I work as a tour guide. I had the chance to learn English in the school and now I am working as a jungle guide for over than 10 years. I offer Eco cultural, educative and full adventure tours with customized services and flexible programs especially designed for nature lovers, photographers, researchers, fishers, bird watchers, family and students. My over 10 years of experience and my deep love of the jungle and its inhabitants; the plants, the wildlife and the locals place me in the perfect position to introduce you to the AMAZON. I am committed in the conservation of the Amazon rain forest with social responsibility with the villages and people who help me to do it. I also organize workshops in schools to speech about the climate change (cause and consequences), garbage management (plastic recycle) because I consider to the education the best way to help to protect the Amazon nature. Guided tour to the Amazon river and its beautiful landscapes
Overview of your Iquitos tour
This tour is specially designed for travellers who have little time but want to see what the AMAZON river and its tributaries have to offer. Explore the Amazon River and its beautiful landscapes, visit FUNDO PEDRITO a refuge of interesting animals, the famous Piranha, alligators, giant fish (Arapaima Gigas), water turtles, lily pads (huge water plant), etc. Explore the NANAY river and visit the BUTTERFLY FARM, a nice place where you will learn about butterflies from the beginning to the end-stage but also see some rescued animals such as: monkeys, sloth, parrots, jaguar, ocelot, etc. Visit MOMON river, a little tributary of the NANAY river, where we will find an ancient tribe KUKAMA whose ancestors moved a long time ago from their original place to show their culture, dance, clothes and dialect to the foreigners. You will have an amazing and unique experience together to very welcome people. All the rescue centers that we visit have permits and licence to care animals.
Your Iquitos tour itinerary
Start times are flexible. Pick up at 8 30 am from the hotel then transferí to the BELLAVISTA NANAY port 9 am, Walk around the market to see exotic products, local dishes and fruits from the jungle. 9 30 am, take a boat and quick stop at the intersection of the NANAY and AMAZON rivers, search for river dolphins and watch beautiful landscapes, Then travel the longest river in the world "AMAZON" 10 am, visit to FUNDO PEDRITO, a refuge of Amazon wildlife: feed to the dangerous PIRANHA and the largest fish of the Amazon PAICHE (arapaima gigas), watch alligators, river turtles Then get back to explore the Nanay river. 12 pm, visit to the BUTTERFLY FARM, learn about butterflies but also appreciate rescued animals such as monkeys, sloth, macaws, jaguar, ocelot. 1 pm, quick stop for lunch. 2 pm, visit to an ancient tribe KUKAMA and learn about their culture, dance, clothes, dialect, souvenirs and interact with them. 3 pm, back to the city We will visit places with permits and licence to care animals.
