My name is May Jony, I was born in the heart of the peruvian Amazon, a small river called NAPO, which is born in ECUADOR country and flows into the AMAZON river in Peru. I am the oldest of 6 brothers and 4 sisters and I left my village when I was 12 years old after finishing my primary and go to the high school in IQUITOS city but my family still live in my hometown which I am trying to help a little while I work as a tour guide. I had the chance to learn English in the school and now I am working as a jungle guide for over than 10 years. I offer Eco cultural, educative and full adventure tours with customized services and flexible programs especially designed for nature lovers, photographers, researchers, fishers, bird watchers, family and students. My over 10 years of experience and my deep love of the jungle and its inhabitants; the plants, the wildlife and the locals place me in the perfect position to introduce you to the AMAZON. I am committed in the conservation of the Amazon rain forest with social responsibility with the villages and people who help me to do it. I also organize workshops in schools to speech about the climate change (cause and consequences), garbage management (plastic recycle) because I consider to the education the best way to help to protect the Amazon nature. Overview of your Iquitos tour
It is especially designed for travellers whose don't have much time but want to see beyong the city in one day. Have the chance to travel about 200 km south of Iquitos and meet where the Amazon river begins, swim in the river (optional) near the pink and grey river dolphins, search for monkeys in their natural habitad, go for a short jungle hike and learn about plants and their traditional uses for amazonian people, play in a vine (like Tarzan) look for sloth, bird watching (macaws, haws, herons, king fishers, etc. visit a lake of lily pads (giant aquatic plant), watch beautiful amazon landscapes, etc. You will see animals in its natural habitad from the distance always respecting their homes and have a real amazon experience, It will be a pleasure to introduce you my home, the "jungle" where I will teach you all my knowledge and experience.
Your Iquitos tour itinerary
Start times are flexible. - Pick up from the hotel at 7 am - Transport by car (about 2 h) to Nauta (a town south of Iquitos) 9 am, Take a brief visit to the local market and look at interesting exotic products which arrives every day from the jungle, - Then get on the boat for an interesting trip down the MARAÑON river stream until the intersection with the UCAYALI river, where the famouse AMAZON river begins. -11 am, Here we will have the chance to watch the pink and grey river dolphin and swimming (optional) -12 pm, Then we travel upstream until the basin of the YARAPA and CUMACEBA rivers - a little natural reserve cared by villagers where will spot lots of flora: giant trees, medicinal plants, landscapes and fauna: monkeys, birds, iguanas. -1 pm, lunch -2 pm, visit a lake to watch lily pads (giant aquatic plants) and its beautiful flowers, visit a small village to learn the Amazon culture. Watch wildlife from the distance, not touch. -3 pm, return - A private tour guide only for you
