Hello, I am Marco, originally from Italy but living and working in Maastricht since 2014. I'm a traveler and explorer, with my own travel blog where I also create itineraries and share them with the world. Therefore I want to show the highlights and hidden gems of this beautiful region (Limburg), with the precious Maastricht, the hills, the picturesque villages, etc. I could even guide you to Aachen (Germany) and Liege (Belgium) if you wanted! I'm totally flexible to your requests - whether you prefer the highlights or the hidden spots, or you want to discover more about nature and be more adventurous, or you choose to experience the city like a local, with the cafes and restaurants. If you want to know more about the Roman heritage or discover the WWII steps in the area, I will be super happy to show you the best places and highlights. I'm an open, talkative, open-minded and energetic person that can't wait to guide you and meet your desires. Maastricht can be visited by walk but if you want to explore the area I can drive you around the picturesque villages of Limburg with half-timbered houses. Once you get here, you will see that it's really not like the other cities in the Netherlands, due to things such as the architecture, to the lifestyle. On this tour, I will guide you through the most beautiful spots and also add some hidden gems that will make your experience unforgettable. You will discover the Parisian-like Wyck, the old medieval town with the most important basilicas (Sint Servatius and Onze Lieve Vrouwe Basilica) as well as the beautiful, well conserved ramparts & gates (like the Helpoort), plus the parks, the bustling squares and even the Roman landmarks. You will also discover one of the most gorgeous bookshops you'll have ever seen! Last but not least, you will also get to have a tasty cup of coffee or tea, joined with a piece of vlaai (local cake) in a historical place of Maastricht.
Marco knows his stuff. We got a lot from the tour through his extensive knowledge of the area and history. And he’s a nice person. Talks quickly so grasping it all through his Italian accent was sometimes challenging but worth every minute. Good value.

I will come to pick you at your hotel or at a closeby train station and we will visit: - Maastricht Central Station - Sint Servatius Bridge - Markt - Bookshop in the former Gothic church - Tasting local piece of cake with coffee/tea - Vrijthof square with the Sint Servatius basilica, surrounding buildings, Carnival symbols and some hidden spots. - The first city walls. - The Helpoort and towers. - The Bischopmolen. - Onze Lieve Vrouweplein and the the basilica + Roman ruins - Stokstraat and the Roman thermae. - Wyck with a typical street. - Closing point of the tour: Central station or your hotel. The tour can be customized based on your personal taste - we could for example switch the coffee/cake with a beer tasting at a historical brewery.

Walking tour - most of the hotels are located in the city centre so most likely you won't need any transportation. However, should you need some, I would come to pick you at your hotel.
