If you are looking for an authentic local experience, you love nature and learn about other cultures, this can be your perfect day! The Heart and the real Essence of the Mayan Culture are deep in the Jungle were the Natural Protect Areas are. After a car driving to the west, we arrive in our first stop, a Natural Protected Area reserve "Otoch Ma'ax Yetel Kooh", in the Mayan language means The house of the Monkeys and Puma. We begin knowing the medicine man in a short "Cleansing Ritual". Later we will walk around the jungle looking for the monkeys! After we will enjoy the beautiful views of the lagoon, canoeing! The second part is to visit a Mayan community, I know them from 6 years ago, they have been working so hard to kept them Mayan roots alive, they love to receive us for sharing their style of life with us. You will also learn about how do they still taking care of the Mayan bees. After you will swim in a wonderful cenote in the middle of the Jungle!
Teresita once again shared with us her great local knowledge and made this trip fun and interesting despite not seeing any monkeys - we did hear howler monkeys but the spider and howler monkeys weren't coming out to let us see them! The canoe trip on the lake was wonderful, and the lunch was delicious.
Our second tour within Tita over a week, this time taking us off the beaten track. We got to enjoy being the only family in a cenote, lunch with a mayan family and got to see both spider monkeys and howler monkeys - the howler monkeys were really something special! She once again tailored the tour to make it accessible to our kids (6 and 4 years old). Would highly recommend her to anyone and we look forward to her showing us Cozumel next time we are in the area!
Teresita showed us one of the most wonderful days. She is so knowledgable and kind. Her passion for Mexico's history, wildlife, and culture is beautiful. We loved riding bikes through Cobá and learning all about the Mayan culture. The cenote was so special. The local family and authentic food is like nothing else we have experienced. Truly magical!

This is a Great Tour. We saw both Spider and Howler Monkeys and went canoeing in a huge body of water next to the Monkey Preserve. We visited Mayan Villages and went swimming in an underground body of water that is in one of the villages. Teresita is very knowledgeable on Mexican and Mayan History and speaks excellent English. It was a pleasure spending the day with her and I really look forward to doing other tours with her in the future. I always receive Great Tours using ToursByLocals.com.

There are two choices for the Pickup place: 1-Pick up in the Ferry Station at. PLAYA DEL CARMEN. (40 Minutes Ferry from Cozumel Island) 2-Pick up in your Hotel in Riviera Maya. (One Hour and a half from Playa del Carmen to the Natural Reserve) *Visit the Natural Protected Area (around 2 hours) (Mayan ritual, monkey and another fauna search, canoeing in the lagoon) *Visit the Mayan Comunity and swim on the cenote (around 1 hour ) *Way back (1 hour and 40 min if your hotel is in playa del Carmen) (+40 minutes on a ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel) This tour can be customized upon request.
