Hello :) I’m Nehal, I’ve been calling Kyoto home for almost eleven years now. I completed both my undergraduate and master’s degrees here, which provided me with a deeper understanding of Japan’s history, culture, politics, and religion. Currently, I’m completing my Ph.D. in politics, which continues to fuel my passion for exploring Japan’s multifaceted identity. Throughout my academic journey, my love for Japan grew, and it inspired me to become a tour guide. For over five years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding visitors through the beautiful cities of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. Each tour allows me to share my knowledge of Japan’s traditions, history, and food, while also showing travelers some of the hidden gems that can only be appreciated through an outsider’s perspective. I’ve met so many amazing people from all over the world, and every tour is an opportunity to connect and share the wonders of Japan with others.

Embark on a captivating journey to Nara, a city that holds a deep historical and cultural significance. Upon arrival in Nara, your first stop is the renowned Nara Park, a vast, peaceful oasis home to hundreds of free-roaming deer, considered sacred messengers of the gods. As you stroll through the park, you’ll have the chance to feed these gentle creatures. Next, visit the Todaiji Temple, one of Japan’s most famous landmarks. The temple houses the Great Buddha (Daibutsu), a bronze statue standing at 15 meters tall. Standing in the presence of this magnificent figure, you’ll feel a sense of awe and reverence, as if transported back to ancient times. After the grandeur of Todaiji, continue your journey to the Kasuga Taisha Shrine, a site renowned for its serene beauty and spiritual significance. The shrine is dedicated to the deities of the Fujiwara family and is surrounded by thousands of stone and bronze lanterns.
