Full-day Tour Excursion : Explore Nara and Uji World Heritage Sites

Our family has now taken 8 different tourbylocals in different cities. Some good, some great but this tour with Mike had something else…meaning. He knew how to move through the city unlike anyone I had ever seen navigate public transport. We had a big itinerary for a full day, he moved as if he sensed the perfect pace based on all EIGHT people’s energy level and when the next train was coming. He understood the cities and the Japanese culture in a way that was really next level. It was not just here is a building and when it was built, it was the depth of the buildings significance and then a kind smile. And then “let’s go” and we were off once again. 3 days later, our 11 year old our 20 year old and me, the 50 year old, all essentially tell the same tale; when we return to Japan, one of the reasons will be to take another tour with this special man. Our day in Nara with Mike was absolutely wonderful. He accompanied us on the train from Kyoto to Uni and Nara where he showed us fascinating sites and beautiful parks, including spots that were NOT touristy (which we loved). The natural beauty of both cities was incredible. Mike is a wonderful teacher with a deep knowledge of Japanese history and culture, and was so patient answering all our many questions. We had such a good time with him and learned so much! We loved him!

Our day trip to Nara with Mike was great- he made the train travel a flawless experience and Mike provided so much information on the history and culture of the area and significance of the Shrines. He found some unique lunch spots (to us, not to him). Mike made great recommendations for dinner- truly a genuine and local experience !!
