The MArTA National Archeologic Museum displays quite extraordinary finds (pottery, mosaics, gold jewellery) showing the splendor of Taranto in the Greek and Roman period. In the picturesque old city of Taranto we can admire the remains of the Doric Temple (or Poseidon Temple; the oldest temple of the Magna Graecia), the interesting cathedral (a mix of Romanesque and baroque style) with S. Cataldo's chapel and its astonishing marble statues and decorations, some palaces in the narrow streets, the fishing port. It's also worth to visit the Aragonese Castle and the swing bridge. During the holy week there is one of the most famous and suggestive "hooded penitens" procession in Italy.
