Discover and enjoy the authentic Puglia. Welcome in Puglia (or Apulia): the sunny and windy "heel of the Italian boot". We are Italy's easternmost region, right in the middle of the Mediterranean sea with culture and traditions that are the results of several different dominations, cultural and economic influences. First of all I'm a traveler (for leisure and work) and I like to discover foreign countries and their culture, traditions, food, people, etc. I have been working in tourism since 1998 as travel designer, event organizer, licensed tourist guide, nature (hike and bike) and interpretive guide, tour leader, food and wine lover (olive oil taster, wine sommelier). I'm passionate about my region and I like to share our amazing attractions and culture with other people. Puglia is an "easy region": the weather is quite warm all year long (the best time to come is from March to November but it's worth to come also in winter time), people is friendly (… but only a few people speaks English or another foreign language), there are always lots of events and things to do and our Mediterranean diet is healthy and tasty for everybody (amazing choice of tasty meat, fish, pasta, rice, legumes, vegetables and fruit recipes). Travelers who come for the first time in Puglia usually are fascinated by the Puglian daylight and the colours of the seaside and the countryside. I'll share with you the soul of Puglia, its culture, traditions, flavors, nature, scent, vibes . . . If you're looking for an hyper detailed and boring visit I'm not the tour guide for you but if you like a friendly and easy going person who will make his best, thanks to his experience and empathy, to understand and satisfy your needs, to suggest the right choices matching with your interests, to introduce in our culture and traditions, to help you in spending a very nice time … then contact me. I'm a licensed tour guide, nature (hike and bike) guide, environmental educator; wine sommelier, certified olive oil taster, tour leader. Education and training: University degree with experimental final essay (with photographic appendix) in Geography about Apulian rural buildings (masseria, villa, trullo); Master in Tourism Economics and Management; Professional training courses: tour guide, nature and interpretive guide, environmental educator, bike guide, bicycle mechanic, BLSD (Basic Life Support Defibrillation), inclusive and accessible tourism; Cooking, wine and extra virgin olive oil tasting classes; Workshop about recognition of Apulian wild orchids; Photography's workshop about show and Entertainment, nature. PLEASE WRITE ME BEFORE BOOKING (this way we will be sure the tour will match perfectly your needs in terms of price, service included, date, start time, duration, etc.). THIS WAY IS EASIER AND FASTER FOR YOU AND ME.

I was born and raised in this area and - thanks to my extensive experience as tour guide, nature guide, wine and olive oil sommelier - I can design for you an itinerary tailored on your interests. Manduria is in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria wine area and it's been always on the border of different civilizations (Messapian and and the Spartan colony of Taranto before, Byzantines and Lombards after). Here we can visit the interesting historic city center, the largest and well preserved Messapian (a pre-roman civilization) archeological site in Puglia, the museum of WW2. At about 15 km it's worth a visit to the Monks' Salt Marsh: an amazing protected area only a few meters far from a wide sandy beach. Depending on the season, it's possible to hike or bike along the coast and/or to stop and admire interesting flora (salt steppes, juniper, myrtle, broom, mastic, wild lilies, etc. ) and an amazing wildlife and migratory fauna (pink flamingos, dwarf heron, egrets, black-winged stilt, kingfisher).
With an half day you can choose 2 of the following activities (while with a full day one almost 4): a) wine tasting with: - winery visit; - vineyard visit with old alberello (bush / head) trained vines planted from 60 to 100 years ago; - wine, folk art and tradition museum; b) visit to a small brewery to taste also craft beers made with IGA (Italian Grape Ale) style; c) extra virgin olive oil tasting to learn how to recognize a good olive oil and its food pairing; d) cheese tasting at a dairy; e) typical lunch at a trattoria, a gourmet restaurant, a masseria (traditional puglian farmhouse); f) historic city center with the the duomo and the Jewish area; g) Messapian Archeological site with pre-roman fortifications, thousands of tombs carved in the rock, the Fonte Pliniano and the small and interesting Church of S. Pietro Mandurino; h) museum of World War II (nearby there was an air field); i) birdwatching at the natural park of Monks' Salt Marsh; l) hike / bike along the coast; m) boat trip / fishing

How to reach Manduria: - by car; - by train with FSE railway line connecting Manduria with Martina Franca or Lecce. The tour of Manduria is a walking one while we'll need transportation to visit the surroundings: in case, we will use your own vehicle otherwise I can arrange the transportation for you with an extra cost.
