I'm a licensed tour guide for Florence and Lucca. I was born in Connecticut, USA, but since 1998, I have been living in Florence, with my husband - a native Florentine. I have a BA degree in Art History and Fine Arts from Bennington College and I studied Restoration in Florence at the Istituto di Arte e Restauro Palazzo Spinelli from 1987 to 1989. My tours are all private - not shared- so I can modify an existing itinerary or make a Custom Tour specifically for you. Tell me about your interests and we can go from there. Over the years I've acquired a vast knowledge of Florence and Lucca's history, art and folklore, as well as a real inside view of Italian life today! Along with local history and art, there are so many wonderful and curious stories to tell that bring the past to life and explain the present. You'll come away with a wonderful experience having learned a lot in a fun and memorable way. Along with my passion for art and history, I also love gardens and gardening. Both Florence and Lucca have extraordinary gardens that will amaze any garden or nature enthusiast. Italy is also food and wine! Wine and olive oil tastings are quite the rage and there are no shortages of places where you can stop in and discover the flavors and aromas of Italy - and of course a cup of espresso or cappuccino! I look forward to hear from you soon and sharing my love for Florence and Lucca with you on a great tour! All the Best! Licensed Tour Guide for Florence and Lucca and their provinces. Diploma in Restoration Studies Istituto per L'Arte e il Restauro, Palazzo Spinelli, Florence, Italy (Accredited by the Region of Tuscany) Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Fine Arts and Art History. (Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont, USA) I am not a driver/NCC.

Overview of your Lucca tour

Lucca is a charming quiet town, rich in art and history, where you can see a different side of Tuscany far from the crowds. As we explore the town, we'll see traces of the Lucca's Roman origins, the Ancient Roman amphitheater, beautiful Romanesque churches, Renaissance palaces and gardens, echos of Giacomo Puccini and the beautiful Ilaria del Carretto, immortalized by her husband in marble. We will "stroll" along the Via Fillungo street - just like the locals out for a "passeggaito" and on Europe's best preserved Renaissance city walls - the very symbol of Lucca's independence.

Laura was very knowledgeable and gave very interesting commentary! She shared behind the scenes local information as well as a great background to the history. Laura was very personable and we learned more about Lucca in 3 hours than we could have ever hoped for! Highly recommend.

Loved Lucca and loved Laura showing us around. She gave us great directions on finding the perfect parking spot and perfect lunch spot before we even met her. Her knowledge of the town is phenomenal. She is kind, patient, smart, and all around great! Her English is perfect (growing up in Connecticut) as is her Italian (living there for 20+ years). You would have a hard time finding a better guide for Florence or Lucca

My husband and I had a beautiful, lovely, and very special day in Lucca and the surrounding area. This was entirely due to Laura, our tour guide, whose warm and comfortable personality, as well as her incredible wealth of knowledge, enabled us to fully enjoy the experience.

Laura was very knowledgeable and communicated well with our group and did an outstanding job of taking us through the history of the Luca area and pointing out the key sites. We would highly recommend her specially for groups of Americans, since she is American born. Her communications were outstanding.
