Hello my name is Ivonne a Licensed Naturalistic Hiking Guide of Marche Region and National & International Tour Leader. After traveling for many years and living in Australia for eight (working in the Tourism Industry as well as Life-Guard at the pool) I returned to live in Ancona, where I grow up. I love working outdoors, in contact with nature, artworks and people. I am very passionate about my work! I studied at the Art School then I worked many years as Graphic Designer until I moved to Australia and started to work in the hospitality field (discover my passion in working with people). I also worked as Life Guard in Australia so I'm trained for CPR. Then in 2012 I've decided to study to get the license as Tour Leader as well as Naturalistic Trekking Guide and since I got them granted I'm working and showing people the land where I'm from, I'm passionate about it. The city of Ancona is located on a promontory formed in the northern foothills of Mount Conero. This promontory make the Gulf of Ancona, whose inner part is the natural harbor. Ancona comes from the Greek word Ankon which means elbow for its shape as a peninsula. The Dori a greek population from Sicily, founded Ancona 387 BC, they stopped in this place for the possibility that the natural harbour offered. The heart of the town is the port as well as Colle Guasco a hill in front of the Port. At the end of tour you should try the local wine and food: stockfish with roast potatoes and selection of local wine: Red Wine: Rosso Conero or Lacrima di Morro d'Alba - White Wine: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi or Matelica, Pecorino Offida.
We very much enjoyed our tour of Ancona today with Ivonne. We walked through many beautiful areas of Ancona and stopped at interesting sites to learn more about the history of this area. Ivonne took us to a wonderful enoteca at the end of our tour to try several wines. She also gave advice on restaurants and nearby places to visit. Great day. Highly recommend!
