Bird Watching Tour

Birdwatching is an observation of wild bird species carried out in the forest with the naked eye or with binoculars. This type of activity is included in the special interests tourism activities that can provide pro-environmental benefits & education. We will spend three full days exploring Mount Kerinci, at over 3800 meters, Sumatra's highest peak. Exploring the mountain between 0 and 500 up to sea level. We will search in particular for Sumatra's montane endemics; Schneider's Pitta, Sumatran Cochoa, Salvadori's Pheasant, Red-billed Partridge, Sumatran Trogon, Rusty-breasted, Sumatran Wren Babblers, Shiny and Sumatran Whistling Thrushes. Other specialties include Dusky Woodcock, Pink-headed Fruit Dove, Rufous-vented Niltava, Spot-necked Babbler, Hornbill Species, and raptors species. Both Salvadori's Nightjar and Sumatran Frogmouth can be seen during night-birding forays though we need some luck to find Rajah Scops Owl and other mountains/hill birds. NOTE: Tour duration is 12 hours for each day.

Day 1-MEDAN -BUKIT LAWANG We will do bird watching at Bukit Lawang as a part of Leuser National Park. It is famous for the critically endangered animal: Sumatran Orangutan. I offer and provide Bird watching and Nature Walks towards the Landak River Including a visit bat cave. The path leads through a mix of secondary forest, gardens, rubber and palm oil plantations. Day 2. SIMALEM RESORT (Peral Of Lake Toba) We will do bird watching in combination with the view of the beautiful landscape of Lake Toba Day 3. SILALAHI, Dairy District We will do also bird watching in the mountain of the rainforest with many songbird species around. Then back to Medan and the end of the tour.
