Bukit Lawang is a small tourist village on the bank of Bahorok River in North Sumatra province of Indonesia. Situated approximately 86 km northwest of the city of Medan.
The Bukit Lawang rehabilitation centre for orangutans was founded in 1973. Its main purpose was to preserve the decreasing number of orangutan population due to hunting, trading and deforestation. The centre closed in 2002 as the place was getting too touristy and unsuitable for animal rehabilitation. Beside we can see semi wild Orangutan also we can make short village tour base on local wisdom culture and daily local activities on this place

In the morning at 7. 00 you, YOU will be fetched at your hotel/address in Medan, .
Then depart to Bukit Lawang as one of the observation point at the GunungLeuser National Park to see the Sumatran Orangutans. Upon arrival in Bukit Lawang, I will meet you and give short briefing before we get into the National Park. Start for an experienced 2-3 hrs trekking in this primary Sumatra rainforest. Steep, slopes and dense vegetation will bring you to the excitement of the jungle. Here you have the opportunity to see several species of indigenous flora and fauna. Semi or wild Sumatran Orangutans might cross your way.

Last trek would be at the river banks and continue walk down through the river banks until to the car place. If you wish and time is available, you may relax at the Bamboo restaurants to enjoy drinks and light meals (own account).
After that drive back to Medan and arrive in the late afternoon.

Birdwatching is an observation of wild bird species carried out in the forest with the naked eye or with binoculars. This type of activity is included in the special interests tourism activities that can provide pro-environmental benefits & education.
We will spend three full days exploring Mount Kerinci, at over 3800 meters, Sumatra's highest peak.
Exploring the mountain between 0 and 500 up to sea level.
We will search in particular for Sumatra's montane endemics; Schneider's Pitta, Sumatran Cochoa, Salvadori's Pheasant, Red-billed Partridge, Sumatran Trogon, Rusty-breasted, Sumatran Wren Babblers, Shiny and Sumatran Whistling Thrushes.
Other specialties include Dusky Woodcock, Pink-headed Fruit Dove, Rufous-vented Niltava, Spot-necked Babbler, Hornbill Species, and raptors species. Both Salvadori's Nightjar and Sumatran Frogmouth can be seen during night-birding forays though we need some luck to find Rajah Scops Owl and other mountains/hill birds.

Start for a city tour visit Merdeka square, as a central of Medan city where you can see old Dutch architecture buildings; Town Hall, Former Java's Bank, Post Office, Train Station and other remaining old buildings surroundings.
