Hi, my name is Sabrina and I'd love to be your future tour guide in Leipzig! I hail from Nuremberg, Franconia, originally, but I moved to Leipzig ten years ago to further my education, and instantly fell in love with the city. So after years of showing my loved ones around, I realized I actually wanted to do this professionally for foreign visitors too. Let me show you why I was so impressed with this city that I “forced” my friends & family to spend an entire weekend with me celebrating my first birthday here, where I guided them along all my favourite sites. This is what ultimately gave me the idea to sign up for the IHK-certification, a qualification process that is mandatory to be offically recognized as a tourguide for the City of Leipzig, and proudly approved all final tests to become a tour guide. Since then I have done over 500 tours and shared my love for this city with people from all over the world – I would be happy if you’re the next one! Besides being a tour guide for over 4 years, I'm also a member of the Leipzig Tour Guide Association Gästeführungen Leipzig und Umland e.V and of the Bvgd – the Bundesverband Deutscher Gästeführer e.V. Additionally i am a guide of the Bachmuseum in Leipzig. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Media Science, as well as in English Cultural Studies. I also have an educational background in event concept design – which enhances my ability to customize every tour according to your needs. I will also gladly point out the best restaurants and bars, and make sure you don’t miss any cultural highlight during your stay. So I'd love to welcome you to the city of Bach and Faust, the city of waterways, of arts and books, of the imperial trade fair and the cradle of the women's right movement. Since 2021, when Lonely Planet put it in the very first spot in its list of Ultimate Travel in Germany, its popularity increased, but in a way it still feels like the best kept secret touristic destination in the country. That being said, every distinguished classical music lover would surely disagree with this statement, since Lepzig would have been on their radar due to its 800 years of music tradition. And this was finally acknowledged in September 2025, when Leipzig was named "Best Global Music City“ in the "Music City Awards" international competition held in Fayetteville, Arkansas (USA). Historically speaking, it's very different to its‘ posh and crowded saxonian sister city Dresden. Leipzig has always been a city of the people, and its peaceful revolution was a driving force for the unification of Germany. Believe me, besides history being made in Leipzig many times before, there is always something going on in present day Leipzig, just as is the case in Berlin. I even dare to say, Leipzig is the nicer Berlin! But you'll probably want to see it for yourself. If you do, I can‘t wait to show you!

Welcome to Leipzig... Germany‘s best kept secret“, others call it “the better Berlin,” and Lonely Planet recently named it the “Ultimate Travel Destination” in Germany. This tour offers a sophisticated introduction to Leipzig’s cultural heritage, ideal for travelers who want depth and an authentic European history and architecture experience. I’ll take you to the city’s most important landmarks, like the church where Bach was a conductor for 27 years. You’ll find out how my sweet tooth survives here in the months when there are no Christmas markets in Germany, thanks to Leipzig‘s most preferred pastry, the Leipziger Lärche (Leipzig Lark), which has a history that developed “from gory to sweet“. I'll also let you know of a special commonality I have with a former Leipzig mayor, who directed the construction of the Old Town Hall in the mid 1500s, one of Germany’s finest Renaissance buildings, which we’ll get to see. Please note: The visit of the inside of St. Thomaschurch is subject to its‘ opening hours.
- Leipzig's Market Square & the Old Town Hall. - Barthel's Hof courtyard - Barfußgässchen, Leipzig‘s restaurant & cafe district, „Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum“ - Johann Sebastian Bach monument & Thomaskirche St.Thomas church (subject to the opening hours and choir rehearsals) - Lärche (Leipzig lark) a traditional local pastry with an interesting backstory. - Mädler-Passage & Auerbachs Keller (mentioned in Goethe's Faust, the most famous novel in German literature) - Old Stock Exchange & the Goethe statue - Café Riquet & Specks Hof arcade (worldwide trade revolution) - Nikolaikirche (St. Nicolai Church) site of the peaceful revolution, one of the events that led to the Unification of Germany. -The tour ends at Augustusplatz with Gewandhaus, Kroch-Hochhaus, opera. Panorama Tower and the university As with every ToursByLocals tour, this tour is of course customisable. Please contact me using the orange 'message guide' button to discuss this.
