Welcome in the most southern part of The Netherlands, very near to the Belgium and German border. I am born and raised in Maastricht, as a son of a brewer. So, a real local who knows how pleasant live is in the historical and vibrant city of Maastricht. Graduated at the Tilburg and Rotterdam University, but now retired and happy to show people the city, that I appreciate. Of course I know all the hidden gems and I can also give you an advice about restaurants and pubs. It is a privilege to live in this beautiful international region, not only for the landscape of the Limburg hills but also for the German town Aachen ( Charlemagne ) and Belgium town Liege ( Prince-Bishop ). Overview of your Aachen tour
A private tour of 2 hrs. for individuals and groups (up to 15 persons ) in language NL/DE/EN. We meet each other at the starting point Elisen Brunnen ( enjoy a nice pre-tour coffee in the Elissenbrunnen Eiscafé or Restaurant ). Aachen has an attractive city center with important historic buildings as the Dom Cathedral ( Unesco heritage site ) and Rathaus Town Hall. Both monuments tell visitors the story of Charlemagne / Charles the Great, the famous emperor of western Europe around 800. During the tour we will focus on Charlemagne, but also mention the interesting story of the Aachen industrial revolution and the big university RWTH. We start of course with the rich history of Aachen as 'Bad der Koningen' ( thermal baths ). During the tour we taste Aachener 'Printen', the traditional regional specialty. Starting time at 11. 00 AM or 14. 00 PM ( but flexible ). If you want we can finish the trip in the nice pub Magellan for a afterdrink or your lunch / dinner.
