Dear traveler(s), My name is Gustave, born and bred in Alsace! I grew up in this beautiful region, and discovered Strasbourg as a student. My first career was as a lab technician. But somehow, I could not stand being locked up inside all day long, so I packed up my things and started traveling the world. And it took me many trips and experiences away from Alsace to understand what being an alsacian means. . . and when I did, an evidence occurred to me : I had to settle back in my hometown, and share the beautiful city of Strasbourg! Once decided, I passed the official guide graduation, and joined then managed a small local guides agency. With time, I developed a solid and diverse guiding experience. I widely broaded my knowledges about the city and the region, and learned how to adapt my tours depending on the guests I was attending. Understanding the travelers references and interests became natural, and I am now able to adjust my tours following their wishes. Thanks to my academic career, I can convert a building and its architecture into a book, that tells us all about the era it was built, and that unravels the secrets of its time, the great History as well as the little stories. Thanks to my personnal experiences, I also know all about the everyday life of the city, the underground part of it, the good places to go, from a casual drink to a big-time occasion. And as I live here, I keep enjoying all those great things that Strasbourg has to offer! What I like the most is when the tour becomes a real exchange with the people, and I do my best to involve the public. It is important to me that at the end of the tour, the guests feel that they learned about Strasbourg and Alsace, and had a good time learning about it. I even created a theatre walking tour to try new ways of sharing! I invite you to follow me through this region I love so much, and explore the most famous places as well as the most hidden secrets. . . I am an official local guide since 2015, with a solid experience and general knowledges background. I have been managing a walking tour agency for 5 years, working both in the office and on the field. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Strasbourg tour

The city of Strasbourg counts 2000 years of history… The « Great Island », the city centre, is a UNESCO world heritage. Apart from the wonderful gothic Cathedral, this prestigious label was awarded because of the great diversity of architecture that you can find in this area. In other words, you will be able to see a sample of architectural styles spread over 700 years. All these buildings have stories to tell, and this tour is designed to bring them alive. Let me guide you across the city I live in, and let us talk about the legacy this History left us, from the roman time to our current time…

Your Strasbourg tour itinerary

The meeting point by default is the Cathedral, but we can agree on any location in the city centre (bus / train station, hotel, ship, . . . ). I can also arrange a pick up, with extra charge. After a thorough tour of the Cathedrale Notre-Dame (including the inside of the building), I will bring you to the very picturesque, yet not turistic district of the Krutenau (originally the « cabbages swamp »). We will then walk through the « Neustadt », also known as the German District, the perfect place to understand the complexity of the alsacian identity. After lunch (1h30), we continue the exploration with the Place Broglie and Place Kléber, before heading out to the idyllic district of the Petite France. As the « postcard district » of Strasbourg, you will learn that this charming atmosphere is the result of many coincidences leading to the preservation of all these lovely half-timbered houses. The tour ends with a Wine and food catering, in the middle of the Petite France.
