Dear traveler(s), My name is Gustave, born and bred in Alsace! I grew up in this beautiful region, and discovered Strasbourg as a student. My first career was as a lab technician. But somehow, I could not stand being locked up inside all day long, so I packed up my things and started traveling the world. And it took me many trips and experiences away from Alsace to understand what being an alsacian means. . . and when I did, an evidence occurred to me : I had to settle back in my hometown, and share the beautiful city of Strasbourg! Once decided, I passed the official guide graduation, and joined then managed a small local guides agency. With time, I developed a solid and diverse guiding experience. I widely broaded my knowledges about the city and the region, and learned how to adapt my tours depending on the guests I was attending. Understanding the travelers references and interests became natural, and I am now able to adjust my tours following their wishes. Thanks to my academic career, I can convert a building and its architecture into a book, that tells us all about the era it was built, and that unravels the secrets of its time, the great History as well as the little stories. Thanks to my personnal experiences, I also know all about the everyday life of the city, the underground part of it, the good places to go, from a casual drink to a big-time occasion. And as I live here, I keep enjoying all those great things that Strasbourg has to offer! What I like the most is when the tour becomes a real exchange with the people, and I do my best to involve the public. It is important to me that at the end of the tour, the guests feel that they learned about Strasbourg and Alsace, and had a good time learning about it. I even created a theatre walking tour to try new ways of sharing! I invite you to follow me through this region I love so much, and explore the most famous places as well as the most hidden secrets. . . I am an official local guide since 2015, with a solid experience and general knowledges background. I have been managing a walking tour agency for 5 years, working both in the office and on the field. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Strasbourg tour

With a UNESCO heritage city centre since 1988, Strasbourg has a rich patrimony and is full of hidden places. But Its wealth does not lie in the past only, as Strasbourg is today one of the major cities in France, and is proud of being the strongest economy in the country after Paris. I invite you to a 4 hours « best of » tour through the city, including a nice local wine and cheese tasting. Gastronomy is indeed one of the jewels of the region, the patrimony that you don't see, but the one that you taste ! We will spend 3 hours discovering the city centre, the highlights as well as the tiniest details of the buildings, giving up stories from the past.

Gustave was a personable and knowledgeable guide who clearly has great affection for Strasbourg and the Alsace region. We learned a lot about the history of the area, and its various neighborhoods with their unique architecture. He was flexible and adjusted the itinerary and pace to suit our needs, and was happy to recommend restaurants and additional sights we might want to explore on our own. The finishing wine and cheese tasting was excellent and a perfect way to wrap up our tour. I'm happy to recommend Gustave.

Gustave was on time and communicated with me about our meeting place clearly including a reminder e-mail to confirm. He knew his history well and added personal insight from time to time when appropriate. The pace was comfortable and my need for a little sitting break was heeded. Our wine and cheese tasting was such fun despite the fact that my brother and I are not very knowledgeable about wine. A bonus for us was discussing language learning with him. We highly recommend him.

Our guide Gustave was the perfect match for the three of us - my husband, adult daughter and myself - during our first trip to Strasbourg. He communicated well in advance, was prompt and flexible in terms of ensuring we saw areas of greatest interest to each of us. His knowledge of history and culture was excellent, and he had a great sense of humor and ability to respond to all of our questions. An excellent guide, a beautiful city!

Your Strasbourg tour itinerary

The meeting point by default is the Cathedral, but we can agree on any location in the city centre (bus / train station, hotel, ship, . . . ). I can also arrange a pick up, with extra charge. Please contact me for further informations regarding transportation. From the cathedral and Its district, we will walk to the German district (the "Kaiserplatz"), outside the UNESCO Island. From there, you will start to understand the complexity of the Alsacian identity. The rest of the tour takes place back to the city centre, where you will see the emblematic squares of Broglie and Kleber, before reaching the famous district of the Petite France. Without any word, you will understand why this district is so famous, but with explanations, you will fully grasp how we ended up preserving these wonders.
