Tour Guide for now nine wonderful years, I am a very positive and ongoing person. It is really hard to get away the smile from my face ;o) When I decided to get my guiding license, more than 9 years ago now, I thought first, that it could be a summer job while on holiday from teaching, but I quickly realized what a great job guiding can be. I use to say, that now, my students are older than before, and are now really very interested in what they want me to speak about. Even better. I started doing tours for friends from California, years ago, then friends of their friends, and I now take people on my tours who become friends ;o) I live in in Normandy, where I was born, but I also lived in Paris, in the US , and in some other countries. That gives me the ability to understand other cultures and to adapt myself. Yet, Paradise is for me "here" in the green pastures of Normandy. Both my grandparents lived through the German occupation, and both were in the French Resistance. I have a very strong connection to my region. That really started my passion for digging in the past. After an education in Normandy, I went studying History and Journalism in Paris at the Sorbonne. As a real History buff, I have created some unique itineraries no one else did before me, like the real Viking tour on the footsteps of the Vikings of Normandy. I try as much as possible to do things the best I can. I am a perfectionist, and I assume. I am married and have two lovely daughters. Besides my family and my job, I love horses. On this full day tour I will show you the places which are really the "essence " of Brittany. Wild, romantic, and historical, Brittany is the region of France where history and nature will amaze you. Even though I am a pure Normand, I would move to Brittany immediately if I could. In Dinan, I will take you on a journey in the 12th and 13th century with duchess Anne of Brittany and the traders, making and selling the best leather goods of the time. You'll walk down the steep Jerzual street and understand how people lived in Europe 900 years ago. In Cancale, you'll try the best oysters in the world, the Belon. You'll have them right from where the sea makes them, facing the oyster beds. In Fort Lalatte, on the footsteps of Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis, you'll discover this fantastic castle on a rock facing the ocean. Now, in Cap Fréhel, you'll have time to admire the unspoiled landscape and the view on the ocean, where for centuries privateers and traders approached the wealthy St Malo city.
We had an excellent tour of Brittany and Normandy with Igor. We learned so much along the way. He was very helpful with restaurant and hotel recommendations. He is very organized with all of his tour materials. You can tell that Igor loves Normandy and France! Would tour with him again!
We have done over a dozen TBL tours. We are two seniors in early 70s. Igor was one of our best. 1. He understood and adjusted pace to suit our level of "tiredness" 2. He paced the day around what we had discussed prior to trip. 3. He adjusted as the day proceeded and our interests were piqued. 4. He selected excellent restaurants and helped with menus. 5. He paced us well for two days. If you can get him - Book him.
Toured St. Malo, Donan and a few other sites on the way, Very knowledgable and speaks very good English. Highly recommend.
