One Epic Hike: The Mighty Santa Ana Volcano

This walk goes from the cloud forest on the skirts to the wasteland by the crater. From the top you can see the steamy sulfuric acid lake at the bottom and the multicolored layers of ash on the rim as well Coatepeque caldera lake below. Santa Ana is part of a compound of 3 major volcanoes and one of the most active in the country. With 4500 ha, this National Park is habitat for near 1/3 of all the known wildlife species in El Salvador. One epic hike for nature and big outdoors lovers. As licensed guide I'm granted with privileged access, way ahead of the daily joint departure. This way you go on your own pace making the experience more enjoyable. This is a private early departure, not the 11 AM joint hike. Even weather tends to be more favorable on early hours. Skip the large groups, the warmest hours. With me you can spend as long as you want at the top, by the crater. No hurries, no crowds. Enjoy the views, take pictures, Time's yours!. You mark the pace. It's a 9 Km (total).
