Hola amigos! Bienvenidos a El Salvador. I'm Alfredo, a triple-licensed tour guide with over 21 years of experience in the field. Salvadoran born, I lived part of my childhood in downtown San Salvador during the first years of the El Salvador Civil War. This made me a witness to some of the most important events in my country's recent history. With a background in Marketing and early professional experience mainly in advertising, I delivered my first tour in 2005. That day, I found my true vocation. Last but not least: PUPUSAS! You have to taste them! They are yummy... and I know my pupusas: my family has run a pupusería (pupusa shop) for over 40 years. Basically, pupusas paid for my education! My Priorities as Your Local Expert SAFETY: I would never take you (or go myself) to a place I consider unsafe. Common sense is the key. FLEXIBILITY: Have you heard of a specific nearby spot? Let's check it out! Want to depart later? ¡No problema! Want to try street food? I know the perfect place! ACCURACY: You have my word that all information delivered is based on facts and reliable sources. If you ask for a food recommendation, I will always suggest the best value-for-money options based on quality, never on commissions. I always know the nearest place to find the tastiest meals or the coldest beer. Credentials & Background I hold 3 valid licenses issued by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (the top tourism authorities in the country), alongside multiple certifications, courses, and workshops: National Tour Guide (Guía Nacional) Los Volcanes National Park Specialist (Santa Ana, Cerro Verde, and Izalco) San Salvador Historic Center Site Specialist (Guía de Sitio Centro Histórico) I am also First Aid trained by the Salvadoran Red Cross. I am highly experienced in diverse tour topics and destinations, including cultural heritage (museums and archaeological parks), history, craft beer tasting, and many off-the-beaten-path spots. If you are looking for the great outdoors, I'm your guy! Hiking and trekking are my specialties, whether it's short or long hikes in National Parks, protected areas, or active volcanoes. I am proud to be one of the most experienced hiking and trekking guides in El Salvador. Ethical Tourism Commitment None of my tours support any kind of animal abuse, child labor, or illegal activities. Instead, I strictly endorse and support small family-run businesses, local guides, and entrepreneurs. Additionally, a portion of my earnings goes directly to support animal shelters and a local child-care foundation. 🏅 My Credentials ● Triple-licensed Tour Guide – Official credentials issued by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation: - General National Tour Guide - Specialized Guide in the History of San Salvador's Historic Center - Specialized Mountain Guide in Los Volcanes National Park (Santa Ana, Izalco, and Cerro Verde) ● Operating under the SICCS Red Distinction – The highest level of the Central American Integrated System for Tourism Quality and Sustainability. ● Certificate in Sustainable Destination Management – UN Tourism Online Academy & Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). ● Completed Training in the Prevention of Human Trafficking in Travel and Tourism – Secretariat General of the Central American Integration System (SG-SICA / SITCA), 2024. ● Family Friendly El Salvador Certified Tour Guide – Specialized in Family Tourism (equipped to accommodate family needs, including strollers and car seats). ● International Tour Guide Certification – Cruise Tourism & Shore Excursion Excellence by Aquila's Center for Cruise Excellence, Canada. Tour Guide Training Course Certification – Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado & Ministry of Tourism. ● Updated First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Response Training – Certified by the Salvadoran Red Cross (June 2026) and FOSALUD. ● Tourist Safety Workshop – Politur (Policía de Turismo de El Salvador). ● Good Practices for Sustainable Tourism Workshop – Salvanatura and Smart Voyager. ● Culture and Sustainable Tourism Congress – Universidad Católica de El Salvador. ● Founder and Active Member – Licensed Tour Guides Collective of El Salvador.

Overview of your San Salvador tour

One of the most picturesque and diverse destinations in El Salvador. Ruta de las Flores is region of colorful villages sitting along the Apaneca mountain range, a belt formed by 14 volcanoes and the heart of COFFEE COUNTRY in El Salvador. The perfect mix of rich volcanic soil, elevation and climate makes this mountain range the most important coffee region in the country. Around this crop many traditions, history and stories are loom to offer you a very special destination. Discover ancient legacies, traditional markets, colorful cobblestoned streets, breathtaking landscapes, a weekends Food Fest and the warm smile of the locals. On the course of the tour we visit the colorful towns of Nahuizalco, Juayúa and Ataco. Along the road there's miradores overlooking the open coffee fields and the line of volcanoes. Just outside Ataco you'll have a very informative guided visit to a running coffee mill to learn what it takes to turn a cherry into a cup of coffee. NOTE: some attractions may run on weekends only.
