Hola, my name is Jorge. I will be more than glad to be your local guide in Costa Rica, this paradise that I am lucky to call home. I have designed comprehensive one-day tours in order to help you discover and enjoy the amazing nature, culture and gastronomy of my country. In 2006, I participated in a sustainable tourism program in Sweden. After that, I knew what I wanted to do for a living. I have been working as a tour guide since 2008 and I love it but it was not until 2017 when I joined ToursByLocals. I delivered tours for its clients for a year and then I became part of the company's staff where I worked for 2 and a half years. I truly enjoyed this experience as I met and worked with many fellow tour guides from all around the world, as well as sharing with everybody from the offices. . . however, the outdoors have called me back and here I am again, ready for more tours and adventures :) As a traveler myself, I can say the best journeys I've had abroad have been in the company of local people. To me, sharing traditions and going to places with them is the best way to see another country, that's why I like offering tours that cover the "must-see" places but also more authentic experiences in off-the-beaten-path spots. Hoping to take you on tour very soon, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. See you & Pura Vida! - Jorge - BA in Sustainable Tourism Management. Have a wonderful day exploring the towns of Naranjo and Sarchí. Located northwest of San José, these towns preserve the essence of Costa Rican culture. First, we will walk through a beautiful coffee estate, which will certainly be an experience for all your senses. The shining green leaves of the "cafetos", a beautiful choir of birds, centennial trees, the aroma of fresh coffee being roasted and poured for you to enjoy :) Our coffee tour takes place in Naranjo, my hometown and a world-known region amongst champion baristas, professional catadores (tasters). With no doubt this is the experience you need to become a coffee connoisseur Then, we will learn about the importance of "Las Carretas", when visiting a 100-year-old water-mill-powered Oxcart Factory and souvenir workshop, known for being the "crib of Costa Rican Folk Art". The talented craftsmen and painters can be observed in their daily labor, manifesting through their work the passion for this ongoing tradition.
