Hola, my name is Jorge. I will be more than glad to be your local guide in Costa Rica, this paradise that I am lucky to call home. I have designed comprehensive one-day tours in order to help you discover and enjoy the amazing nature, culture and gastronomy of my country. In 2006, I participated in a sustainable tourism program in Sweden. After that, I knew what I wanted to do for a living. I have been working as a tour guide since 2008 and I love it but it was not until 2017 when I joined ToursByLocals. I delivered tours for its clients for a year and then I became part of the company's staff where I worked for 2 and a half years. I truly enjoyed this experience as I met and worked with many fellow tour guides from all around the world, as well as sharing with everybody from the offices. . . however, the outdoors have called me back and here I am again, ready for more tours and adventures :) As a traveler myself, I can say the best journeys I've had abroad have been in the company of local people. To me, sharing traditions and going to places with them is the best way to see another country, that's why I like offering tours that cover the "must-see" places but also more authentic experiences in off-the-beaten-path spots. Hoping to take you on tour very soon, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. See you & Pura Vida! - Jorge - BA in Sustainable Tourism Management. Discover one of Costa Rica's most beautiful regions, the highlands of Naranjo. Located 1:30 hr from Puntarenas port. These mountains are known for their alpine-like appearance and abundance of produce growing on their slopes, including coffee, strawberries, potatoes, and squash. At an elevation of about 5000 ft, the views are scenic all around and the climate is comfortable. The beautiful forest of centennial ficus trees has inspired folk tales and is home to toucans, quetzals, owls and sloths. On our tour, we will leisurely walk a section of the forest while learning about the region, natural history and relevant cultural and social aspects of Costa Rica and the region. Afterwards, we will enjoy a picnic with fresh local produce and specialty coffee locally-grown :)
- Pick up at the port (Caldera or Puntarenas) - Drive to Naranjo Highlands (1:30 hr approx.) - Forest Walk (1 hr) - Picnic & Small Coffee Workshop - Return to Port
