Hello folks!. Welcome to Bogota. I'll be glad to have you, and I would do my best so you'd have great memories of your stay in Colombia. I am a very friendly, cordial person. I've lived in the USA; in Phoenix where I participated on a foreign exchange student program for a school year. I've also lived in London, Barcelona, and Paris where I pursued some studies in order to get my Language Arts Bachelor's degree. I enjoy meeting new people and speaking foreign languages, and showing you my country. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have. I am looking forward to seeing you soon. We, all the people engaged in the tourism business are working pretty hard on meeting all bio-safety standards in order to be ready to have you when you decide to come to visit my wonderful country. So please stay well, and I hope to see you back soon. Nancy. Bachelor´s degree in Language Arts (University of Paris VIII, St Denis. On this tour we have the opportunity to visit two marvelous places: the undergroung Salt Cathedral and Guatavita lake. The last was the place where during precolumbian times the enthronization ceremony of the Guatavita indian chief used to take place. Native people of this region gathered around the lake to offer emerals, gold. . . During the ceremony all these were casted into the lake. . . ! Imagine when the conquerors knew about this. . . ! A hike of one hour to appreciate this awesome lake that still keeps so many misteries. And the Salt mine with its huge Salt Cathedral underground; an awesome architectural design carved in the salty rock, and created by a Colombian architect. Time to visit the beautiful Zipaquira square. Remark: Guatavita lake closes on Mondays except holidays.
We will take a road up on the eastern Andean mountains to reach the town of Guatavita. Beautiful patchwork landscape of cattle farms and country restaurants, greenhouses. Time to visit the Spanish colonial style town. Then we will continue our trip to arrive to the Guatavita Lake Natural Sanctuary where we will start our hike. Time for lunch, and then continue to Zipaquira known for its underground cathedral with its awesome architectural design very much admired for visitors from around the world. Return to Bogota. Please wear comfortable shoes, rain jacket.
