Hi there! Welcome to Ghent - the hidden gem of Europe! My name is Arn. I am 33 years old and have been living in the city of Ghent all my life. I have a Master's Degree in political sciences and international relations, and have worked in several different sectors: public policy, IT, and mobility consultancy. A few years ago I discovered my true passion: telling stories. Since then, I've been working as a tour guide in Ghent. In my tours, I try to mix things up a little. Some history, random fun facts, cool legends, and unexpected stories about the city and its citizens. I can also tailor my tours to what you find the most interesting! Ghent is an amazing city. A picturesque old town, a vibrant student city, a city of classic and modern art, graffiti, festivals, and urban culture. Let me show you this diverse and incredible town! Belgium's biggest student city is a historical gem with stunning architecture around every corner — but also a lively, thriving and constantly reinventing itself kind of place. During this tour, I'll show you those different sides of my hometown. And yes — my hometown. I was born and raised here, which means I won't just walk you past the famous sights and recite dates at you. I'll tell you the stories the guidebooks skip. This tour is for everyone. History nerds? I've got you — Ghent has layers going back 1.500 years and I love diving into all of it. Just here for a good time and great photos? I'll show you the most beautiful parts of the city and take you to my favorite chocolate shops. Architecture, art, graffiti, culture, weird little stories, big historical moments. Ready to discover it together?
-We'll start our tour in the middle of the medieval city center of Ghent, with a beautiful view on our medieval skyline taking in the 3 towers of Ghent. -We'll then walk to the old port of Ghent: Graslei and Korenlei. -Afterwards, we'll walk to the Great Butcher's Hall, the old meat market. -Next, we'll come across the highlight of Ghent: Gravensteen, the castle of the counts of Flanders. A unique stone castle right in the middle of the city. -We'll then stroll by some nice, authentic places that offer Flemish stew plus local sweets & specialties. Good places to try one of our many local beers too! -Later, we'll walk through one of the most colourful places of Ghent: the little Graffiti street. -Afterwards, we take a closer look at my favourite of the 3 towers: The Belfry, symbol of power of the medieval city. -At last, we'll go into the Cathedral, where I'll tell you the amazing story of the most stolen painting in the history of mankind: The Ghent Altarpiece.

My default meeting point is on the Korenmarkt square, in front of the Post Building at the staircase. Alternatively, I can also pick you up at a hotel in the city center.
