Bruges and Ghent are two artistic and charming, small towns in Belgium, each just a short train ride away from Brussels. In a perfect world, Bruges and Ghent each deserve a full day for exploring. However, if you are short on time, you can visit Bruges and Ghent in one day. I propose to visit Bruges and Ghent in one day from Brussels. Of course, you need to get an early start. Bruges, the more popular of these two towns, tends to get very crowded midday. To avoid spending your valuable time in line, get to Bruges in the morning. We had a wonderful day and a half with Danielle visiting Brussels, Bruges and Ghent. She has a vast knowledge of the history but was also able to point out the best places for chocolate, cookies, waffles or dinner in the city. We traveled by foot, train, bus and tram and Danielle was able to navigate them all with ease. We would recommend her to anyone visiting these area of Belgium.
