Guide #35735
Dear friends, I am Michael Chang, a professional English-speaking tour guide in Xi'an, China. I have been working as a tour guide for over 10 years and also used to work as a national guide who always took tour groups to travel through the country. Now I mainly work as a full time tour guide in Xi'an city. After working in various tour agencies and being a tour guide independently, I have got a better understanding for what travelers need and what do they expect during their traveling. Among all these cities I have ever been to, Xi'an is one of my favorite. For most of foreign travelers who have never been to Xi'an before, the city will be considered as a small town. In fact, apart from being the hometown of the world renowned Terra-cotta Warriors, Xi'an has became one of latest national central cities in China today. It is known as the starting point of the world famous "Silk Road" and reputed as one of the "Four Ancient Capitals of the World", together with Rome, Athens and Byzantine. There were 13 dynasties had their capitals established in Xi'an with a time duration of over 1, 100 years. The splendid and glorious dynastic period had long gone with the vanishing of the Great Tang dynasty, but a considerable amount of ancient monuments from the former Chang'an city have survived in the modern city. Like the best preserved city wall of Xi'an, the Bell & Drum Tower, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the well known Great Mosque. It is still a city with compelling beauty and history. People always say in China "If you want to know something about a 3, 000 years old China, you should make a trip to Xi'an. Want to know something about 600 year old China, you should go to Beijing, and a 100 years China, Shanghai. " This shows how important Xi'an is as a tourist destination. As a guide mostly based in Xi'an, I do almost all kinds of tours. Like package tours with hired private transportation, morning & evening food tours by walking or public transportation, walking tours and night tours etc. I will try my best to give all my guests a truly local experiences and to help them to enjoy their stay in my own city! I am happy and ready to show you this beautiful city and to help you to enjoy staying in my own town! So please come here and go around with me! I am an official licensed tour guide by the Shaanxi Tourism Association. I am a licensed tour guide but not a driver. I can arrange all kinds of vehicles with drivers for groups with different sizes. I also provide tours without using private transfer, like walking tour, morning or evening food tours with local transportation.

Michael was a great host and guide. He showed me around the city and took me to corners I wouldn’t have found on my own. I enjoyed my time with him and would highly recommend him. Thanks Michael
My group's tour of Xi'An was excellent. Lingtao was not able to carry out the tour himself, but he put together a wonderful itinerary and introduced us to another tour guide, who was very helpful and knowledgeable. The tour guide, Jackie, was very receptive to my group's interests throughout our tour, allowing us to move at a comfortable pace for us. The experience was...
John, who did the tour because the original guide Michael had to drop out, was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. He was full of amazing stories throughout the tour, and knew all the best things to see at the sites. The Terracotta Warriors museum can be overwhelming even when the crowds aren’t at their maximum, so it was helpful to have an experienced guide to make...
