Shore excursion: A day explore the Imperial Hue city and visit the Royal tombs of Nguyen Dynasty

For our first trip to Hue, Sue (Phuong / Uyen) recommended Hotel Continental: a SUBERP 5-star experience at reasonable rates. Sue was our guide for two wonderful days. Sue’s English is good (she also teaches English). The city tour took us to the listed highlights, including boat ride on Perfume River, learn to make incense, and Tu Duc Mausoleum (quiet garden/pond). Sue was a wealth of historical/architectural/religious/cultural information. Her lunch spot was overflowing with good food. Sue is just enjoyable to be with, as she shares the City where she lives and grew up. Everything ran seamlessly, and was well coordinated with her driver. I CAN’T RECOMMEND HER MORE HIGHLY. Spend a day in Hue with Sue and enjoy the sights, sounds and people of Hue. (See additional review in the rural tour review).

I only rated 5-stars, because 10 were not available. Sue (English name) is an outstanding guide with excellent English skills. Based upon our requests she put together a wonderful tour of Hue. She integrated the use of the car such that we were always moving and never waiting; even incorporating a short river boat ride to move from one stop to the next. She has excellent knowledge of her city and clearly takes pride in her city and its past. She mixed in food stops to give us a flavor for local cuisine. The food was excellent and very tasty. Near the end of the day, we stopped by her family's local food and bakery shop. The sandwiches were excellent. Just getting to know this fine young lady was a great experience.

We enjoyed our day with sue. She listened to what we wanted to see and made sure we saw all of it and more. We would definitely hire her again.

Phuong was simply delightful: was genuinely excited to meet us to show us around her home city! Promptly picked us up & brought us back to the port; With excellent English, she shared about herself with us; asked about our backgrounds & answered all our questions in regards to Vietnamese culture. Took great photos for us; had a delicious lunch. Treated us with great courtesy as if we were family; attentive to our needs (such as finding a clean bathroom); very knowledgeable about the ancient city of Hue.

Phoung was a fantastic tour guide with excellent English. She met us at the cruise ship port and showed us the highlights of Hue city. We had a wonderful time and really appreciate all of the effort she put in to showing us the city!
