Welcome to Hue — Vietnam’s Imperial City
Hello! My name is Ngoc, though many travelers know me as Matthew. I have been a licensed professional tour guide in Vietnam since 2013, and Hue is the city I am proud to call home.
Before becoming a guide, I spent years traveling throughout Vietnam, exploring its landscapes, historic cities, local food, and cultural traditions. Those journeys helped me understand how diverse Vietnam truly is — but they also made one thing clear: Hue is where my heart belongs.
As a history major and local guide, I specialize in private tours of Hue, especially the Imperial City, the royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty, ancient temples, local neighborhoods, and the peaceful Perfume River. Hue was Vietnam’s imperial capital from 1802 to 1945, and every palace, gate, tomb, and garden has a story to tell. My role is to help you see beyond the monuments and understand the people, values, rituals, and historical events behind them.
My tours are personal, flexible, and conversation-based. Whether you enjoy deep history, architecture, photography, local cuisine, Buddhist culture, royal heritage, or simply a relaxed walk through a beautiful old city, I can adapt the experience to your pace and interests.
I especially enjoy guiding travelers through the Imperial City, where the story of Vietnam’s last royal dynasty comes alive, and through the serene royal tombs, where architecture, landscape, philosophy, and imperial ambition are beautifully connected. A boat trip on the Perfume River is also one of my favorite ways to introduce visitors to the quiet charm of Hue.
I am not a driver, but I can arrange a private car and professional driver when needed, making your tour smooth, comfortable, and easy to enjoy.
