Shore Excursion: My Son Sanctuary & Hoi An Ancient Town – A Full-Day Cultural Journey

Xin chào! My name is Chuong, and I’ll be your local guide for this special shore excursion to two of Central Vietnam’s most treasured UNESCO sites — My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town. We’ll begin at My Son, once the spiritual heart of the Champa Kingdom. As we explore the ancient brick towers, I’ll share stories of Cham history, and you’ll enjoy a traditional Cham dance performance in a lush mountain setting. Next, we’ll take a peaceful boat ride down the Thu Bon River, stopping at Thanh Ha Pottery Village to meet local artisans and try your hand at traditional clay crafting. In the afternoon, we’ll wander through Hoi An, my hometown. From the Japanese Covered Bridge to the lantern-lined streets, you’ll get a taste of history, culture, and daily life. I’ll make sure you’re back to your cruise ship on time, full of memories and ready for your next adventure!

After picking you up directly at Tien Sa Cruise Port, we’ll begin our day with a scenic drive to My Son Sanctuary. Here, I’ll guide you through the ancient ruins of the Cham people – a peaceful, spiritual site surrounded by jungle and mountains. You’ll learn about the architecture, religion, and legends of this lost civilization, and watch a short traditional Cham dance performance. From there, we head to the riverside for a relaxing boat ride along the Thu Bon River. We’ll stop at Thanh Ha Pottery Village, where you’ll meet friendly local potters and try making your own small clay souvenir. Afterward, we’ll continue by boat into Hoi An Ancient Town, where we’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch at a charming restaurant. Then, we’ll walk together through the old town, visiting the Japanese Covered Bridge, Tan Ky Ancient House, the Chinese Assembly Halls, and the local market. Finally, I’ll bring you back safely to the cruise port with plenty of time to board your ship.
