Santa Fe Plaza Walking Tour

Miguel was very informative and entertaining. We really enjoyed our tour with him and wish we had scheduled it to last longer!

Miguel was both charming and informative. Instead of just pointing out things, he took the time to explain a lot of history and important background information. We had no trouble meeting up with him as we met at a town square in Santa Fe. He kept the tour at a reasonable pace and we never felt rushed or hurried.

Our guide Miguel loves history and that enhanced our tour of Santa Fe Plaza and Santa Fe's history. He covered every part of its history with passion, from the earliest settelors to the modern day. He even covered Santa Fe's role in Los Alamos. His knowledge of the details is incredible. Definitely take this tour! It's a homerun.

Miguel Duran was our tour guide. He gave us a history lesson on the Santa Fe and greater New Mexican areas. He layered it by covering the original Indian inhabitants first followed by the Spanish influences in the region. Next was the story of the Mexican nations brief rule followed up with the US westward expansion and the development of the Santa Fe trail. Quite interesting. We spent time in the La Fonda hotel, while visiting the oldest church and house in the United States. He has a neat story about 109 Palace Street. Miguel is an interesting fellow and weaves a good story. I would highly recommend him to a small group.

Very good communication before the tour. Miguel was knowledgeable about the history of Santa Fe and he was able to explain timelines of historical events and give perspectives about changing dynamics and shifts in power over many centuries. Compassionate and considerate to all that he met and it was clear that he was known to many. It was a great way for me to gain a bit of an understanding of a place within the limits of a 2.5 hour tour.

We learned so much on this tour and since Miguel is a local historian, he could answer any questions we had. We walked all of Santa Fe Plaza, visited gorgeous churches, a famous hotel, the location where the Manhattan Project was born, the oldest house and still active government building. Santa Fe is a cool city and well worth the visit. Miguel knows this place extremely well and it seems everywhere we went the locals knew him too!
