This is a tour to the place where legends are born. Spoiler alert! Some of your most cherished beliefs may be challenged on this tour. This tour is highly customizable and can be modified at your request. The tour concentrates on the early history of the Black Hills and the impact of the Gold Rush on settlement and development of the region. This is a great experience for those who wish to experience the places where history was made starting in the 1870's and continues today. This tour is designed to give you a sense of place and a chance to visit significant sites in American western history. We will visit museums dedicated to the area's history; walk the streets where the deeds occured; and even see the graves of characters we all know by name, but never met.
This tour is easily customized to accommodate your wishes. 1) Drive to Deadwood, SD and visit sites associated with the early history of the town, its famous and infamous characters and its Historic District. Guests may choose to visit local museums and gaming establishments on their own; 2) Travel to the sister city Lead, SD and site of the Homestake Gold Mine. It was the largest & most productive gold mine in North America and we will stop at their Visitor Center. Today the underground mine is being converted into an underground research and education center; 3) Travel the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. It is a deep limestone canyon and a scenic wonder; 4) Then we return to our place of origin.

This tour is conducted in a 2011 Honda Pilot SUV Touring Edition or 2004 Dodge Sprinter touring van. Both vehicles are air-conditioned and offer comfortable rides and large windows.
