My name is Scott. I am a lifelong resident of Portland and an avid world traveler. Discover My Portland combines my passions for travel, history, and my hometown by sharing with you on your own travels to my part of the world a unique tour I call The Rest of the Story. This tour won't try to sell you on Portland (I think it sells itself), rather I will tell you stories of interesting, colorful, and sometimes tragic figures that help to make Portland into the place it is today. Discover My Portland is a one-man show. I am the owner and the only tour guide so when you come to Portland, you get me. My wife and I recently took a year off to travel the world but we are now back and I can't wait to show you my Portland. Life long resident of Portland, history fanatic, member of Travel Porland and generally a good guy.

Overview of your Portland tour

You may know Portland by its official nickname, The City of Roses. Or maybe as RIPCITY, the name given to honor our beloved Trailblazers. Or maybe you know Portland as the micro-brew beer capital of the nation. But Portland is far more than any of this. Have you ever wondered how the nation's 29th largest city came to be run by a local bartender? Or do you know about the man whose "uncommon" sense saved the City of Roses from certain destruction? Have you any idea the role that "architectural envy" played in the design of a Portland icon? And I bet you don't know what connection the ill fated Titanic or Romeo's Juliet or an unbelievable daredevil act for the ages has to our city. I invite you to join me for a unique historical walking tour which I call The Rest of the Story. Together we will follow Portland's journey from a small wilderness clearing, through the rough and tumble 1800's, and finally into the city often voted as "One of America's Best Places to Live"

Your Portland tour itinerary

The Rest of the Story tour is a two hour walk through downtown Portland and a walk through history. Our history spans the decades from the cities beginning's 170 years ago to its current (and infamous) appearances on the nightly news Beginning at Pioneer Courthouse Square we will make stops where events and people have literally changed our city's history. The tour is a loop which means we return to The Square at the conclusion of the tour
