After a career teaching science and math, I embarked on my journey to share my love and knowledge of Niagara Falls with visitors as a tour guide. I have been guiding tours in the Niagara Region in the US and Canada for over 30 years, and I usually do at least 1 tour every day, typically with plenty of walking regardless of using a vehicle as well. I often have people with walking disabilities on tour, which is not a problem for me since everything I propose doing is also handicap accessible. The rich history of the Mighty Niagara, as well as hidden gems like regional foods and local favourites, offer our visitors truly wonderful experiences and memories. After years of guiding large groups, I grew to prefer private tours where I can focus on a personalized experience at your way and at your pace. From the war of 1812, area folklore and legends, the history of hydro power and the Underground Railroad are topics I can discuss in depth or as highlights along the tour.

Have you ever wondered about the origins of the Niagara Falls? Well, I’ll gladly show you the hill from where they were actually formed back in the ice age. Believe it or not, we were hit by a large meteor that caused ice to come down from the Arctic, which generated the Falls & formed what’s known as the escarpment bridge. We’ll actually get to stand at the bottom of the ridge at the river's edge, looking across Queenston where hundreds of people lost their lives in a historic battle in 1812, when the 5th US President James Monroe wanted to take the very rich land of Canada from England. We’ll also see a series of statues at the river steps which depict the Tuscarora people who saved American settlers from the slaughter of the British army in this war. But the falls were discovered before then, back in 1684 by a French explorer who heard of them from the natives and decided to form an expedition to find them. They were then sketched by a Belgian priest at the exact place where I’ll take you to see them!
-After gathering at our meeting point, we’ll go across the street & walk about 500 ft to the American Observation Tower, to stand next to the American Falls, but with a view of all 3 (including Bridal Veil & Horseshoe Falls, which is seen southward). -An optional next stop would be to see the Horseshoe Falls if you haven’t before: in this case, we’d then take the NY State Park trolley to reach them. -In either case, we’ll later take the free Discover Niagara Shuttle towards the historic Devil's Hole State Park, from where we’ll get to see the whirlpool next to Whirlpool State Park. -We’ll then head to the Power Vista, where we’ll visit a free exhibit all about Niagara Falls & see a 15 min historical 4D movie (prepare to feel wind & even sprinkles of mist!). -Our last stop before returning will be by the village of Lewiston, where we’ll go down to the edge of the Niagara River & stand across Ontario, where the Battle of Queenston Heights took place.
