Hello! Welcome to the beach! I am a sixth-generation South Carolinian on my mom's side, born in the state capitol and raised in a small town in the Upstate. My dad's parents were from Sweden, and I have always loved being by the ocean. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and I have a Master's Degree from Winthrop. My first career was as a first-grade teacher in the public schools of the Palmetto State. As a young mother, I moved with my family to Myrtle Beach in 1982, and looking back, I have to say this is when I became truly happy. I love the feeling I get with sand under my feet. I have seen Myrtle Beach grow and change, and all the while, I have appreciated its beauty and charm. I am a friendly and enthusiastic person, and what I want is for you to experience the beauty of the natural parts of Myrtle Beach as I have. I will customize your tour to your needs and interests, making sure, as we drive around the area, that you see its special pockets and alleyways, and not just the tourist areas that most visitors see. We will also talk about the area today, its economy, the way we live, what we like to eat and do for fun, our schools and institutions, and anything else you might have questions about. At the end of our tour, you will be comfortable, almost like a local, and you will know the best spots for a drink, for music, or just for coffee. You will also take with you my personal preferred restaurant list, mapped out with pricing, comments, and phone numbers. Welcome to the beach! Considering that, I have personally chosen the best of the best for this tour, and you can trust me on that as a 40-year, very hard-to-please Myrtle Beach resident! So join me for a delicious “progressive dining” adventure as we explore some of the best bites this vibrant coastal city has to offer. For example, for our main meal, you'll get to choose from a variety of meats or a delicious four-item vegetable platter! From hidden gems to local favourites, each stop will delight your taste buds and give you a genuine taste of Myrtle Beach’s rich culinary spirit. Let's go on this flavourful journey together!
Your Myrtle Beach tour itinerary
-After we've gathered, we'll start our tour with a visit to Bay Naturals, an interesting natural food store & fresh kitchen, where we could kick off with a homemade and healthy mixed green salad. -From there we will drive down Ocean Boulevard North through Myrtle Beach's Golden Mile, to enjoy the beach views and the beautiful beach houses, both old and new. -We'll then stop right on the ocean at the old time locals' favourite restaurant, The Sea Captain's House, for our next course -- the very best She Crab Soup in South Carolina - or anywhere! -Next, we will choose our entree from a selection of authentic southern cooking at Big Mike's Soul Food. -Finally, we will enjoy dessert at the award-winning Croissants Bistro & Bakery, getting to choose from Key Lime Pie, Red Velvet Cake, Cannolis, and many more. Hopefully the lovely owner, Heidi Vukov, will be onsite, so we can congratulate her own being named South Carolina Restauranteur of the Year! -At last, I will drop you off at an agreed spot.
