Hello! Welcome to the beach! I am a sixth-generation South Carolinian on my mom's side, born in the state capitol and raised in a small town in the Upstate. My dad's parents were from Sweden, and I have always loved being by the ocean. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and I have a Master's Degree from Winthrop. My first career was as a first-grade teacher in the public schools of the Palmetto State. As a young mother, I moved with my family to Myrtle Beach in 1982, and looking back, I have to say this is when I became truly happy. I love the feeling I get with sand under my feet. I have seen Myrtle Beach grow and change, and all the while, I have appreciated its beauty and charm. I am a friendly and enthusiastic person, and what I want is for you to experience the beauty of the natural parts of Myrtle Beach as I have. I will customize your tour to your needs and interests, making sure, as we drive around the area, that you see its special pockets and alleyways, and not just the tourist areas that most visitors see. We will also talk about the area today, its economy, the way we live, what we like to eat and do for fun, our schools and institutions, and anything else you might have questions about. At the end of our tour, you will be comfortable, almost like a local, and you will know the best spots for a drink, for music, or just for coffee. You will also take with you my personal preferred restaurant list, mapped out with pricing, comments, and phone numbers. Welcome to the beach! From well-known highlights such as the million dollar beach houses on The Golden Mile, to those off-the-beaten-path gems which local residents treasure, I will make sure you experience the soul of this vacation destination in a way most visitors never do. My goal is simple: by the end of our time together, you won’t just have visited Myrtle Beach—you’ll feel that you belong here.
Your Myrtle Beach tour itinerary
-To begin our tour, I'll personally pick you up from your hotel or we could meet directly at Market Common. -We'll proceed to go through the Market Common and Warbird Park, a tribute to the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. -Later, we'll stop at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum, a beautifully-restored historic beach house which was moved to the current location in 1983. The exhibits change seasonally, and the gift shop is an absolute delight. -Next we will explore the Historic Downtown Myrtle Beach, which features the popular Train Depot and Ocean Boulevard, kitschy yet charming in its own way. -We'll then drive along the beautiful Pine Lakes Country Club, the granddaddy of the 121 golf courses in the area. -We'll then drive through Myrtle Beach neighbourhoods and make our way back on the Parkway. -At last, we'll return to Market Common, where you can continue enjoying the appeal of the non-tourist side of "The Beach."
