Step back in time and relive the birth of the Bluegrass. We will visit historic sites which mark the beginning of this enchanted land. You will learn about our impressive history regarding education and politics, both of which were pivotal in shaping the USA. We will tie these historical markers together with the origination of our world-renown thoroughbred horse industry and the remarkable genesis of Bourbon Whiskey. Lexington Kentucky is nicknamed the Athens of the West for good reason. You will hear about the cultural and educational diversity dating back to 1775. You will stand where Abraham Lincoln stood on the courthouse steps. You'll touch amazing thoroughbred horses, hear about their journey and see where they apply their talents at the most beautiful race track in the world. You will see how real Kentucky Bourbon is made, inspect the mash and drink straight from the distiller's whiskey thief. There truly is no place like the Bluegrass. I anxiously await your arrival!
Morning, first thing! : A walking tour of Keeneland Race Track and Horse Sale Pavilion. Marvel at this gloriously appointed home to the sport of kings. Enjoy a photo op on the sales stage where thoroughbred horses are auctioned for millions of dollars. Mid-morning: Tour one of the select horse farms for an educational and inspirational adventure. You will get up close and personal with these equine wonders. Lunch: Local fare Midday: A historical walk/ride tour through downtown Lexington and the immediate surrounding area. Narration will include historical accounts of the activities which occurred at these selected points of interest. Afternoon: We will tour the James E. Pepper distillery near downtown Lexington. Situated in the heart of the distillery district, this place is a combination of ancient Bourbon history and new technology. You will experience a hands-on (and in) education of all things Bourbon. Afterward, enjoy a stroll through the other festive establishments in the distillers' row
