I am extremely passionate about the environment and sharing this love with others. Growing up in Southern California and Hawaii made pursuing and sharing that love easy. I'm a naturalist and avid traveler and there’s nothing I enjoy more than educating others about the natural world. I earned my B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I've spent extensive time at sea conducting marine mammal research with NOAA and has worked for Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. After a 5 year hiatus from the marine field, I left her job in oncology research and closed her homeopathic practice. I put all possessions in storage and began my journey to earn sea time for my captain’s license while diving back into the field I dearly loved and missed. I've spent the past ten years working in Hawaii, the South Pacific, Antarctica, the Arctic and South East Alaska as a naturalist, hike/kayak guide and dolphin swim guide. My extensive work as a field biologist combined with a passion for health research and education has given me the unique ability to be open, friendly and relate to guests on all levels. I'm well known for her informative lectures and pride myself in providing guests with memorable field excursions. I am charismatic, easy to talk to, and best known for my high satisfaction rating among guests. As I like to say, “It’s all about showing others how they can relate to the natural environment.” And in the words of conservationist Baba Dioum, “In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.” BS - Marine Biology; University of Hawai'i at Manoa Polar Tour Guides Association (PTGA) - Certified Guide American Red Cross - Lifeguarding with CPR/AED For Professional Rescuers, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and Waterfront Skills STCW Certification - Basic Safety EYOS Expeditions - Project Manager and Expedition Guide United States Coast Guard 50 ton Master State of Hawaii - Public Utilities Commission 1-7 Passenger Vehicle Permit Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park Commercial Use Permit Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park Commercial Use Permit Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park Commercial Use Permit State of Hawai’i - Department of Land and Natural Resources Commercial Trail Access Permit State of Hawai’i - Harbors Division, Hawai’i District Ground Transportation Permit

Overview of your Kona tour

From beautiful lush rainforest and towering waterfalls to stunning active volcanoes; we'll be visiting spectacular natural destinations on this must-do adventure, including a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I'm talking about Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, which is also an International Biosphere Reserve. This iconic park boasts the summit of two of the world's most active volcanoes and extends from sea level up to the peak of Mauna Loa at 13, 677 feet. As we explore, we'd come across critically endangered wildlife and some of the most unique geological, biological, and cultural landscapes you could possibly find on Earth. I will provide guided interpretation throughout the day to make sure you get to learn all our natural wonders, endemic wildlife and rich cultural history. This tour could be extended to a full 12 hours with additional waterfalls, National Park stops, and an included sit down dinner to end a great day, so please contact me before booking if you were interested.

Your Kona tour itinerary

-After picking you up, we'll travel between 2 of the largest volcanoes on Earth: Mauna Kea & Mauna Loa, towards Hawaii's lush East Coast. -Our first stop will be at the iconic Wailuku River State Park to take in the beauty of Boiling Pots & Rainbow Falls, which received its name from a rainbow often forming in its mist in the early morning. -Next, we'll continue to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. -Upon entering the park, we'll walk along the rim Halema'uma'u Crater for unique views of the current eruption (this crater's size nearly doubled after the 2018 collapses!). -Afterwards, we'll see Wahinekapu Steaming Bluff's natural steam vents (heated groundwater escaping from cracks in the earth as steam). -Later, we'll reach the massive Thurston lava tube, which is 600 ft long & over 20 ft tall in some places! Depending on how long we stay on each site, additional stops in the Park can include: Devastation Trail, Kilauea Iki, Ha'akulamanu sulphur banks, Maunaulu & upper portions of Chain of Craters road.
