When I arrived in Scotland from France more than 10 years ago, I immediately fell in love with this beautiful country. And when you fall in love, how can you not share everything about your wonderful new home?! I am passionate about the hidden history and legends of Scotland. About how people lived from Kings to peasants. About the tales whispered in the Royal Courts and the taverns in town. I want to share with you the history and culture of Scotland through stories. Not boring long list of dates but engaging local tales. Who do you think invented the bagpipes for example?... If you guessed the Egyptians, you’re right! As far back as 400BC they were played around the Mediterranean Sea and it is likely the Romans who brought it up North to Scotland! You’ll have to wait until the 1500s for the “piob mhor” (Great Pipes) to be fully played and adopted by Highlanders in battle. The instrument was even considered a “Scottish weapon of war” – after the battle of Culloden, if you were found playing the Pipes you risked being hanged! I offer tours in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling, and across Scotland. All my tours can be customized upon request. I love history, ghost stories, food tours (do you know what the Scottish equivalent to a Coca Cola is by the way?), Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes (because yes, Conan Doyle was Scottish!). I speak both English & French.

Forget about Edinburgh, I'd love to share with you my favourite Scottish Castle! Only 1h from the capital, the quaint medieval town of Stirling was at the heart of the Scottish Wars of Independence. Robert the Bruce and William Wallace, James IV, Mary Stuart, these Scottish monarchs changed the face of the United Kingdom and all of them used Stirling as a stronghold. We'll begin our journey with a walk in the winding streets of the Old Town. Along the way, we'll discover the secret history of key monuments, from the Tolbooth, to the haunted graveyard tucked behind the city's fortifications. We'll then visit Stirling Castle. Discover the Great Hall where fantastical meals were being hosted (have you ever thought of using an entire boat as a plate?). Visit the private bedrooms and state halls of the Monarchs, and learn about the tales of treason hidden behind the beautifully preserved furniture!
Tour Highlights: - Stirling Old Town - Church of the Holy Rude (if open) - Stirling Graveyard - Admire views of the Wallace Monument built in honor of William Wallace, whose real history may have been quite different to the Scottish hero depicted by Mel Gibson in Braveheart by the way... - Stirling Castle

Walking tour. This tour is built so we walk up to the Castle - if you have some mobility issues, contact me and we can do it in reverse so you only go downhill and avoid any slopes. If you're coming from Edinburgh, let me know if you need any assistance with transportation (car or train). I can create a customised tour for you with this cost included.
