Hello, I'm Jim and I'm a qualified guide, mountaineer and ecologist. I have worked as a guide extensively across Wales since 1997 and have intimate knowledge of the mountains, coasts, culture and history of this ancient land. I am also a member of a voluntary mountain rescue team of the busy Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation North Wales has become my home for many reasons. Nowhere else in Britain will you find such variety, in such a compact area, as you will in Snowdonia - or Eryri as it is known in Welsh. I have fallen in love with the scenery and wildlife as well as the local culture. My work has taken me around the world, leading expeditions, training teachers and guiding in the great outdoors. My work also sees me guiding groups in the European Alps, especially the Tour of Mont Blanc and Swiss Haute route during the summer months limiting my availability during these months. Qualified mountaineer Qualified first aid trainer Masters degree in conservation Over 20 years guiding wildlife tours Mountain rescue member I provide a guided tour service and can meet and collect from your location (within reason). I have a vehicle to carry 3 passengers comfortably with a 4th seat available.

Terrific tour of the beautiful Welsh Seaside locations. Jim is a "real" outdoorsman and a fun and knowledgeable guide to everything there is to see in Anglesey. He has a great personality and a clear and easy understanding of the history of the place. Highly recommend.

We booked this tour so my husband could research his ancestors' footprint on Anglesey, Wales. Jim brought along a paper map to show how the area fit together - very thoughtful! We visited the town and location of the farm where Geoff's great-grandparents lived, the church they were married in, and several graveyards where his relatives were buried. We also visited several neolithic sites - one where we parked on a country road, slipped through the gate and past grazing sheep to visit 8000 BC standing stones; another where we entered a full neolithic burial chamber, again in the middle of a working field. A drive-by of Beaumarais Castle closed out this tour. Jim's low-key, pleasant personality and his expertise in the area made our conversations easy going and truly informative! This was all we had hoped for and way more! What a treat!

We loved this tour! Jim is extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Anglesey, and was able to adapt the tour to our interests as the tour progressed. Our conversations were varied, interesting and thought provoking. Plus the scenery was strikingly beautiful. We rarely write reviews but this tour is the exception. When we look back on our trip Anglesey definitely a highlight!

We really enjoyed the time we spent with Jim on our tour of Anglesey. He was very easy going and flexible. Also, very passionate about Wales and Welsh culture. His tour was not just the set of places we would be interested to visit, but also a “spending time with a local” type of experience. We not just visited great places – which we certainly did. But we also spent some quality time getting to know how people live in Wales, what they possibly think etc. Jim is very nice person, easy to get alone with. He also is a very good driver, that you can’t help but appreciate on the very narrow roads in Anglesey! We highly recommend his tour!

Jim found a host of interesting sites which fit our interests perfectly. We enjoyed learning about the history of North Wales and Anglesey Island in particular. He modified his usual tour to accommodate our mobility limitations and found an interesting restaurant for lunch which had great food (but I ordered too much). We were extremely pleased we found such a personable and capable guide.

Very good tour guide in that he is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His background and personal experiences are perfect for guiding this tour. Would definitely recommend Jim and ask that you do wear your walking shoes as you will see places most people won't see.

Your Holyhead tour itinerary

• Visit the town of Beaumaris and its castle overlooking Snowdonia and the Menai Strait. • Walk along the promenade at Menai Bridge by the Menai Strait and around Church Island. • Stop briefly at Llanfair PG (Llanfairpwll gwyngyllgogerychwyrn drobwllllantysiliogogogoch) - the town with the longest name in Britain! • Visit the ancient megalithic stone monument at Barclodiad y Gawres on the rugged west coast near Rhosneigr. • Take in the breathtaking sea views of Holy Island and Holyhead mountain along the soaring cliffs at South Stack and visit Elin's castle RSPB sea bird viewing area. There are the remains of Ty Mawr hut circles close by and the impressive megalithic standing stones of Penrhos feilw. The order of sightseeing can vary due to the weather. I offer a personal and bespoke itinerary which is well-received. I am happy to include any suggestions for inclusion. Additional options would include penmon point, Din Lligwy Celtic Iron Age & Roman hut settlement, Parys mountain & Newborough Warren.
