Depart from Holyhead to the spectacular South Stack Cliffs and Lighthouse. We will appreciate the rugged coastline as the road hugs the cliffs of the tempestuous Irish Sea as we head towards the coastal village of Trearddur, known for its wonderful beaches, its fine houses and famously unique sailing boats. As we tour the village we'll learn who has lived there over years and I'll share what I know about its heritage and culture. You will hear stories of saints and sailors, and the village's role during World War II. We then visit the hamlet of Rhoscolyn with a small hike around the headland and bay. Breathtaking views of Snowdonia and the Llyn Pennisula, superb geology along the route and perhaps a Holy Well whose waters are reputed to sooth the mind. We will visit the gothic style Church of Saint Gwenfaen, an early Celtic female saint with a tragic legend. We'll be looking forward to have lunch, which we'll enjoy along with a brush with Royalty, maybe?. . .Finally Forest walk if time allows.
The itinerary would be as follows: * Meet in Holyhead area, where we'll check you have all the necessary footwear/clothing (waterproof) and then travel for approximately 15 mins to South Stack. Visit the Lighhouse (April - October only) and walk along the towering cliff tops. * travel 2 miles (3Km) to Trearddur Bay. Explore the Village on foot and admire one of the finest beaches in the country. * A short journey to Rhoscolyn were we will hike around the headland and bay a spectaucalr short section of Anglesey Coastal Path with fine panoramic views of Snowdonia. Make sure you have 2 quartz pebbles to throw into the Holy Well! * A Visit to St Gwenfaens Church. * A leisurely lunch at a fine White Eagle Tavern, with an amazing view and a Royal connection, perhaps! * A Short Forest walk through what was once a fine Grand Estate * Return to Holyhead Feel free to enquire about customising this tour
