Hello, I'm Jim and I'm a qualified guide, mountaineer and ecologist. I have worked as a guide extensively across Wales since 1997 and have intimate knowledge of the mountains, coasts, culture and history of this ancient land. I am also a member of a voluntary mountain rescue team of the busy Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation North Wales has become my home for many reasons. Nowhere else in Britain will you find such variety, in such a compact area, as you will in Snowdonia - or Eryri as it is known in Welsh. I have fallen in love with the scenery and wildlife as well as the local culture. My work has taken me around the world, leading expeditions, training teachers and guiding in the great outdoors. My work also sees me guiding groups in the European Alps, especially the Tour of Mont Blanc and Swiss Haute route during the summer months limiting my availability during these months. Qualified mountaineer Qualified first aid trainer Masters degree in conservation Over 20 years guiding wildlife tours Mountain rescue member I provide a guided tour service and can meet and collect from your location (within reason). I have a vehicle to carry 3 passengers comfortably with a 4th seat available.

Jim L. is great tour guide and very flexible. We went off script a bit and saw Castell Harlech as part of our tour through Snowdonia as well as some other sites along the way. He's knowledge and enthusiasm of Welsh culture is evident, and we even learned a few lessons on pronunciation.

Jim did a great job of adjusting the tour content to acomodate my and my wife's handicaps. We would describe our Snowdonia experience as perfect!

This was the second of two back-to-back tours we booked with Jim to learn about North Wales where my husband's ancestors were from. We headed early Sunday to the largest slate mine in Wales, long abandoned, but now the site of an incredible zip line already hopping at 9 am! We visited Penryn Castle, a 19th century extravagance in surprisingly exquisite taste. We drove to Caernarfon Castle for a photo-op and stroll, and Harlech Castle, where Jim stopped at an amazing overlook. On the way to Llanberis, we passed sheer slate cliffs and watched multiple groups of rock climbers. In Llanberis, we had a delicious tea at a small snack stop on the path to/from Mount Snowdon. For both tours, we benefited from Jim's wealth of knowledge of the area, his ease in navigating the narrow roads on May Day weekend, and his gracious manner. These tours were the highlight of our 3 weeks in Wales!

Jim was a terrific guide! We had great fun exploring Snowdonia and would highly recommend his tour. He customized a slower version of his tour for us due to mobility issues in my family, and we would not change a thing. Make sure Jim takes you to his favorite spot for a meal...it was fantastic! Jim was very communicative during the process, and we surely hope hope we get to see him again on our next visit.

Jim is a great guide who clearly knows all the best spots in North Wales and was able to create an ideal tour specific to my interests and preferences. My day in Snowdonia was great with lots of beautiful scenery. I was able to see/do what I wanted and his suggestions were all great. The walk in Cwm Idwal was truly one of the highlights of my time in Wales. Jim also seems to know everyone in the area, as well as all the flaura and fauna. Highly recommended.

Your Holyhead tour itinerary

This tour is specifically designed to showcase all that is Wales and Welsh. I pride myself on giving a bespoke service and my extensive knowledge of the region will ensure you get great value from your time here. • We visit the historic town of Llanberis and walk around Dolbadarn castle • We then head towards the village of Beddgelert for a gentle stroll along the Afon Glaslyn to soak up the atmosphere & charm of a traditional Welsh slate village. • In the afternoon a short walk on a stone path leads us to the lake at Cwm Idwal, Wales' first national nature reserve offering stunning mountain vistas and the essence of the Ogwen valley. • There are several options available after this which include Conwy castle or Caernarfon castle or a walk to Aber Falls. I really like to tailor the itinerary to my client's needs, some of whom are keen to walk further and some to experience the historic towns in more detail.
