Whirling dervish ceremonies were started as a form of meditation by Jalaluddin Rumi, the famous Sufi Muslim mystic and poet, in the 13th century. The Persia-born Rumi "There are many roads which lead to God. I have chosen the one of dance and music. " There are lots of symbols and stories behind the dance. This is more than dance. The dance is unique to the dervishes because they let go of their ego and personal desires to get involved fully in the music. It seems easy to do when watching, but you need a lot of practice to be an expert. This place and dance are really different and unknown cultures, allow me to explain everything about dervish culture, Rumi culture and mansion history. I studied these subjects and I will be very happy to take you on an unforgettable journey and experience which will leave a mark on any viewer's soul. Hami was our tour guide who gave our group of four a wonderful description of the history and the traditions of the Dervishes. The Whirling Dervish is a very interesting ceremonial dance and Hami's explanation helped us to understand the meanings of all the parts.
This was a truly amazing experience. Hami was my tour guide who gave me a rich description of the history and the traditions of the Dervishes. A unique ceremonial dance worth seeing.
We meet at your hotel and go to one of the old kervansaray ( old silk road mansion) to watch dervishes! This place itself amazing and has such a deep history. I do explain you all history of silk road and kervansaray. it takes around 2 hours with transportation. End of the ceremony we will have dervish drink and come back to hotel.
