So we will learn from them at the same time as we learn about their life.

Museum of Mayan Textiles and Larrainzar Community

Chiapas has interesting and varied textile traditions inherit from indigenous that have inhabited the region for thousands of years. Mayan villages from the Highlands have developed weaving techniques, styles of dress, and aesthetics that have thrived for centuries adapted to modernity creatively.

This tour is design for you to learn why fabrics, which have been fundamental for Mayans since per-Hispanic period, are essential to current mayans for strength identity and culture.

Also, for you to recognize traditional-costumes categories, identify clothes from different villages, and read its iconography since designs are part of a symbolic code that synthesizes meaningful information for the Mayans.
