"Hola", I am Armando, a passionate of history, archeological sites, museums, old artifacts and buildings. Nevertheless, it wasn't until recently that I was able to take a master in Mexican History. And after a while being involved in archive research to restore and rescue colonial buildings, now I found it hard to refrain myself from showing everyone the hidden stories behind monuments, historical sites, and old city spots that are normally overseen, even by locals. Still about myself: Read books and watch documentaries about science and history, watch and hear news about world current events, mountain biking, and hearing stories from people with different cultural backgrounds, are my personal hobbies. After introducing mysef, I trully hope you could take a minute or two looking into my tours descriptions, I am sure you'll be surprise of what you could learn about the ancient roots of Mexico, trying to understand the current one. I hope we could meet soon. Master degree in Mexican History by the Latin American University (2002-2004). History research coordinator for the restoration of colonial buildings (San Miguel de Allende 2009-2011).

Overview of your Queretaro tour

If you have ever wonder about Mexico, not the one of the glamorous beaches and its nice all-inclusive hotels, but the true Mexico, its long and complex history and culture, this is a tour for you. Querétaro is in the center of our country and has been its crossroads city from almost 500 years. The goal of the tour is to explain you and try to make a sense of the city's pre-Hispanic roots, foundation, silver and royal inner-land roads, its colonial architecture and role in the Independence War, French Invasion, Mexican Revolution, and much, much more. You'll hear some surprising facts of our history admiring the baroque and some neo-classic architectural marvels of the city. This is not ment to be a "sightseeing" tour, but a learning one.

Armando is a truly amazing guide. He is really knowledgable not only about Queretaro, but Mexico's history, so he connects a lot of dots all along the tour. We did not even feel it was 4 hours long. Such a great experience. There was also felxibility from him to adjust the beginning of the tour to a time that better suited us.

Absolutely brilliant! We have used private guides all over the world. This was one of the best ever. Armando was flexible around timing and very responsive to messages. We had a 4 hour walking tour and learnt an incredible amount about Mexican history as well as about Queretaro. Armando is passionate about history and clearly very well read. The result is a brilliant tour for those interested in not getting dumbed down stories but, instead, an insightful analysis of the different phases of history at both a local and national level. Outstanding!

We really enjoyed our tour of "Baroque Queretaro" with Armando. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city as well as Mexican history in general. He took us to some unique places that we would not have found on our own. He was also very polite and patient with us (I was traveling with older parents who are slow walkers) and he ended up spending extra time with us. He also speaks excellent English.

This is the adress of "Mirador de Los Arcos" (aqueduct's viewpoint) in the city's old-town. Since this is a four hour walking tour, I recommend you to get there using a taxi, even if you are staying somewhere in the old town. I alo recommend you to wear confortable shoes, a cap or hat, and your sun block cream. Try not to drink too much coffee before the tour, it is always hard to find a restroom in the old town.
